I think that carnifexes can go instinctive behavior but my friends think differently. What is the actual rule?

Carnifexes do suffer from Instinctive Behavior. They have to Lurk if they fail. Print this out: http://us.games-workshop.com/errata/assets/TyranidsFAQ.pdf Then do the "I'm right, you're wrong" dance with the "in your face, punk" flourish.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Fearless doesn't mean what you think it means. It means immunity to Fall Back and Pinning, not to ALL Leadership tests. People forget that.

Yes, so it'll be a rare instance where it comes up. But when they roll a 11 on the last turn of a Alpha Cleanse, and that Carnifex stops contesting a quarter due to Lurking, it'll matter...
