Played a game today, had a really good time, it was really fun, but I shot a lot of HB fire at a genestealer/broodlord squad.  I figured the BL should have a 3+ save, but I thought the max a genestealer could have was 4+.
Am I wrong about this one?   I don't think there was player impropriety on my opponents part.

Max for the average genestealer is 4+; the broodlord is the only one with 3+.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I thought so, from what I remember, Genestealers start with a 5+ and can e upgraded to 4+.

There is no way to get a genestealer to 3+ right?

None. You can't take extended carapace twice, and nothing else boosts saves.

Well then, that might have changed some things let me fire my HB's at something else for a turn, would have been nice, but oh well.
