The requirement here is that they have to be within 6" of a unit of the same type, if not they are destroyed.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time... |

So Necrons that are waiting on WBB's no longer count as part of that unit?
Just for clarification on my part.
Cheers

If there was another unit of warriors within 6 inches, then the ones who fell from shooting will join the closest squad if they pass their WBB rolls.

Necrons waiting for WBB are just "markers", they dont affect gameplay in any way.

The "damaged" Necrons follow the unit they were attached to when falling back (see the Codex: Necron FAQ for details). Since the unit fell back off the table so did the damaged Necrons, thus the entire unit is gone.

Necron within 6" of another unit of the same kind then they can make WBB rolls. If they are near a tomb spider there are different requirements I think.
The Great Avatar I can't find where you made your citation. I'm looking at Faq 4.0 and there doesn't seem to be anything there.

He's thinking of the caveat for the rez orb; normal WBB doesn't use that.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Reread the second bullet under We'll Be Back! "...The same logic applies if the Necrons fall back after taking shooting casualties."

No. I'm thinking of the normal WBB and, yes it does. Reread the second bullet under We'll Be Back! "...The same logic applies if the Necrons fall back after taking shooting casualties." Which seems silly to me, since under the WBB rules in the codex, it states that: "Any Necron model that is reduced to 0 Wounds, or would otherwise be removed as a casualty, remains on the tabletop and is laid on its side to show that it's damaged. Damaged Necrons ignore the normal coherency rules and cannot be attacked in any way..." and "The repaired Necron will immediately be placed in coherency with the closest unit fo the same type. Once joined with a unit, the Necron moves and fights with it for the rest of the game." It seems pretty clear how you'd treat damaged Necrons that had their unit falling back, but then the FAQ goes and changes it up completely.

Yeah, theres bunch of stuff in the Necron FAQ that is completely changed up from the Codex unfortunately. *grumbles about lightning field causing hits from unsaved wounds only*
It's best to play it as TGA has said, and move the downed Necrons with the falling back unit. Keep in mind that downed Necrons are always a part of their original unit until they make pass a WBB roll which causes a re-evaluation of what unit they are a part of, and that if a unit is below half strength and is falling back, and enough warriors make their WBB rolls to bring it up above half strength, it is able to rally.
