Bought it at 1pm, done by 5 - couldn't put it down. Great book - way better than the 2nd one (they need to go back and rewrite the 2nd one) I would have prefered more character development with Horus and the other primarchs, but they did a good job on the other characters. Action was good and the plot was decently developed.

I just read it today and I loved it. It was far better than the second novel and almost as good as the first. I can't wait for the 4th one. Anyone know if it will be "Flight of the Eisenstein"? or is that a stand alone novel?

Maddening Mutant Boss of Chaos

I too enjoyed Galaxy in Flames. Great action, solid pacing. Solid Black Library pulp. Whereas False Gods struck me as being kind of murky. It'd be nice if Dan Abnett could clone himself and write 'em all. But failing that, I thought Ben Counter put in some good work here. The scene in which the primarchs (and, from the Emperor's Children, a delegate) gathered to hear Horus's battle plan was particularly fun. And I thought Counter's take on the EC philosophy of war was well drawn. One could see how the ideal of precise, artful tactics and perfect battle prowess might have pointed this legion down its destined path. So I'll agree: this book was a good read, and better than McNeill's effort. edit: And I liked how Counter's opening line riffed off of Abnett's.

it was a good book, you could tell it was written by a different auther but was not bad at all, i thought Goto was gona write it and was prepared to be let down, but was saved the sadness. Die Abbadon die, i actually dislike him more than Horus.
