These stories were written six to seven yeas ago when the Inquisitor book was coming out and I was working as a professional writer.  This fluff tested a subdirection for the Inquisitor to go, but it turned out to be a dead end.  I wrote some more stories on my own account.

The stories feature Inquisitor Roberto Brake of the Ordo Veritas, which I see from other posts, lives on.  Although recognizable as an Inquisitor, Roberto Brake is a classic detective as well!

The first six stories and the prologue form a complete story arc.  The first two stories are introductory, the remaining four are the central arc.  These have all been published here on a previous incarnation of Dakka Dakka and were originally posted a section a day as a kind of serial novella.

They are all puzzles too and I will publish the answers a week or so after the story is published.  I would appreciate those who know the solutions keeping quiet so that those who read them for the first time get the same joy that you did when you discovered the solutions.

I'd appreciate comments and feedback.  If you would like to see the rest of these stories, let me know.  If not, I won't waste Russ' web space.

Please post comments here so that the individual stories don't get cluttered with comments.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I confess i didnt read the intro first before commenting on the case.
I deleted it.

To be honest though, its been so long since I read them, I dont even recognize alot of the outline so its fresh to me.

Very cracking stuff there. And dont play that coy game with us. You KNOW we want to read this. I really cant wait to read more. I feel like a junky who needs more crack.

GIMME CRACK!

Thanks Hellfury.  I'm pretty proud of the stories and they seem to have aged well.

Of course I WANT you to read them, but perhaps they don't mesh with the needs/wants of the current crew.  They are definitely aren't as Slash/Chop/KILL! as much current fiction.  They are a bit slow and cerebral too.

I waas just reviewing my files and I have nearly 250,000 words of fiction, so I have a decent body of work.

They really are excellent, and I daresay the current crew can appreciate them too. Post on, brother AMA, post on!

I've been super busy for the last seveal days getting out my unit grades for 63 students but I see that there are very few hits in Roberto Brake; understand the 'Old Guard' being entertained; are there any new readers out there?

Well, as a member of the so-called 'old guard', I can hardly claim that I'm a new reader overawed by the quality of the stories. On the other hand, I expect that new readers will build up over time. The short fiction story isn't checked quite so often as the others, I suspect.

Anyhow, welcome back. I've certainly enjoyed reading over Roberto Brake's cases once more, and I expect I'll find a person or two to point in this direction as well. Now get cracking on some new stuff.

John,

Have you heard from the namesake of your stories?  He sorta disappeared one day from the War Room, and noone ever heard from Bob again.  Hadnt thought about him in a few years till I noticed your characters name.  Anyway, if you know what happened to him, drop me a line and let me know.

T.O.

Dude, these are awsome,
not alot of posts in short fiction but with stuff like Roberto Brake it doesnt really matter.
They honestly remind me of published sci-fi Ive read.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste
