I've heard they are tough....use the wolf packs to get across the table fast and tie up the enemy, and the infantry follow...

Are they good? What is everyone's experience? I know EOT is on the way out, but I can still use the list locally. What should I take?

Little too slow mostly.

Try 20-30 wolves, and the rest grey hunters, probably do very well.

It's kinda hamstrung in my book by all the points wasted on hqs when the normal guys are so fantastic. Be sure to keep your hqs very very cheap.

The fenrisian wolves are a steal. Fragile but will hit the enemy on turn 2 at the very latest and can dish out quite a bit for a 10 point model. They are the key to making the list work, as the rest of the list is brutal but costly and slow. 30 wolves would be a minimum with the full 45 being what you should take for a competative list.

Wulfen are nice. They have drawbacks but one big unit lead by the wolfpriest is a fairly robust unit.

There's a pretty standard way to setup the HQs.

Lord should have the mark, the belt, a pair of LCs and frag nades. Watch him tear through squads.

Wolf Priest should stick with his free gear and frag nades. Give him the poitions and maybe melta bombs if he's leading wulfen as they will draw a ton of fire and can't deal with armor at all.

Rune Priest works well with terminator armor, chooser, combi-melta and frost sword. Gets him a nice save, some anti-tank (big weakness for 13th) and yet he still retains a nice number of attacks. I wouldn't give him the mark as he'll spend less time charging and more time deepstriking.

Slayers and claws are no brainers. Leader with powerfist and mark for sure and melta guns are a must of the grey slayers.

Bikes. Dunno that'd I'd use them over wolves personally but the meltaguns could be a nice addition if you face alot of vehicles.

Longfangs. The gated melta squad is certainly a tempting config but I think a small 2x Mg slayer squad works well too. Some people think they are a must have because of their long ranged anti-tank but I think they're toast if your opponent has any tanks to begin with.

Overall a strong list but one that has no answer for vehicles and well played SAFH.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

They are a hard army to use properly, but in cityfight and restricted LOS fights they are very tough. In open terrain they get gunned down too easily.

Whitescar/The_Praetorian used to run a 13th co. list that was pretty bad @$$. It had: wolves, wolfen, bikes, hunters, a rune priest and a lord (don't remember the loadout of each, though). It hit pretty hard and was surprisingly fast. That was before 4th came out, though. In COD they'd be a pretty tight army, methinks.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

great in dense terrain, In open terrain they get shot up.
