Hey guys this is a pretty standard 1850 Tau list I'm working on. Please give me some feedback, thanks.

The goal is to stay extremely mobile. I realize I don't have markerlights, but after playing around with them so much I realized they really don't work for me. They just seem to gimmicky (is that really a word?) for me so I don't bother with them any more. Thanks for looking!

I think you could do without the Devilfish, unless you're deadset on Mech Tau. Those three vehicles make up 300 points even, which are points better spent on other things. Stealth suits IMHO are quite effective units, and for the most part, each one has an equal amount of firepower to the Fish for a third of the cost. My brother fields a five-man, and they're excellent at mowing down my guard. They get enough shots that they can also drop MEQ too.

Most Tau players around here will tell you that Vespids suck, and that you shoud never use them, but my brother has a 6-man that he uses when we play in urban terrain and on small, dense boards. They are a wonderful unit to have, seeing as how your 8-man will statistically drop 8/3 Marines in one shooting phase. If you follow that up with a charge, you can possibly drop one more Marine, making your kill total to be a little less than 4 marines in one turn. Kill the remaining one in CC, and the unit's paid off 75 points.

Be wary when using them in open ground, however. They make a decent countercharge unit, better than Kroot in some regards, since they can shoot and assault in the same turn, have I5 instead of 4, and can move 12" with their wings, T4 instead of 3, a 5+ save over a nonexistent one or a 6 (which many will say is still fairly worthless), and can fleet up to 6" instead of shooting if you don't think you'll be able to reach the enemy unit.

Their downsides include the fact that they cost more than twice a basic Kroot, get only one attack instead of 2, are only Str3, and have Ld 6 without their Strain Leader. They also have a much shorter ranged weapon than the Kroot, so they can never really contribute to your gunline until your opponent is right on top of you. Having the ability to kill a marine on a 3+ though is far superior, making them better at counterassault against MEQ, whereas Kroot should focus on GEQ gribblies.

You have plenty of AT death in your trio of Railheads, and your 6 Crisis suits + 2 Shas'el fireknives are plenty good at killing Marines. You might want to consider taking a Crisis team with Fusion Blasters over the regular ML/Plas, since in an 1850 game you don't want to be caught with no AT and a Land Raider traipsing through your lines. Just a thought though.

Otherwise, You've got a pretty solid list. Not much in the way of counterassault, so if you do take my advice about leaving the Fish at home, I'd recommend getting another 8-man Vespid unit or a Kroot to improve your gribbly-killing power in H2H.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
