Hi everybody, I was trying to think of a very competative Tau list to bring to tournaments and this was the result. I'm not looking for "this list is so cheesy" comments, constructive criticism is welcome.
HQ
Shas'el - TLFB, DC, 2x SD
This guy is a dedicated deepstriking tank hunter. He goes after indirect or stubborn armor.
Shas'el - PR, MP, TA, HWMT
2x Bodyguard - PR, MP, TA, HWMT
Expensive but deadly, these guys can really lay down some firepower.
ELITES
3x Xv8 - PR, MP, MT
TmLd, PR, MP, TA, HWMT
Similar to the command squad, they can lay down the hurt and are quite versatile.
3x Xv8 - PR, MP, MT
TmLd, PR, MP, TA, HWMT
3x Xv8 - PR, MP, MT
TmLd, PR, MP, TA, HWMT
TROOPS
6x Firewarriors
Minimum troops. They'll stick with the broadsides, or act as some bait
6x Firewarriors
FAST ATTACK
6x Gundrones
Well these guys pretty much disrupt the enemies battle plans. I can deep strike them in to tie up/slow down units, but should take sufficient casualties so that they're only in for one round, allowing the enemy to be shot up in my turn.
6x Gundrones
6x Gundrones
HEAVY SUPPORT
2x Xv88 - TLPR, TA
TmLd - HWDC, 2x SD, HWTL
I realize that most people woud take the BASS pattern, however with the ability to split fire, and them both having TL BS4 shots I think they'll only really be firing their railguns turn 1 and 2, then they'll be moving to hold objectives while firing their plasma.
Hammerhead - RG, SMS, MT, TL, DL
Pretty standard but reliable
Hammerhead - IC, BC, MT, TL, DL
With the tankhunting commander, the dual targeting Xv88's and the Railhead, I thought I'd use an Ionhead since I don't use them much, but the are really effective.
