Hey all,

Here's a fairly standard mechanized list that I've been trying to tweak such that it has the requisite 6 las cannons at 1850 and has decent counter-charge elements.  Generally, I have the infantry squads hunker down in some terrain and shoot away all game while the armor runs around and kills infantry.  Without further delay, the list:

Doctrines: Iron Discipline, Mechanized, Close Order Drill, (enter 2 more cool looking/theme doctrines)

HQ

Junior Officer -- Honorifica Imperialis, iron discipline, standard, chimera IFV (hull heavy bolter, turret multi-laser)/166

Sentinel -- las cannon/55

TROOPS

Red Platoon/525

Command -- 4 plasma guns, chimera IFV (multi laser, hull heavy bolter)/165

Squad 1 -- las cannon, plasma gun, chimera IFV (multi laser, hull heavy bolter)/180

Squad 2 -- las cannon, plasma gun, chimera IFV (multi laser, hull heavy bolter)/180

Blue Platoon/525

Command -- 4 plasma guns, chimera IFV (multi laser, hull heavy bolter)/165

There it is.  I'd like to get a little more in the way of vehicle upgrades, as it is they're all bare-bones to save points, but extra armor on the hounds, russes and command chimeras would be nice, as would pintel stubbers on the chimeras and the hounds.  Chamelioline would also be nice for the infantry as they are so darned fragile and are my only scoring units (aside from the heavier armor).

The other thing that I'm concerned over is my lack of indirrect fire.  I would really like a basalisk.  However, I had to make a choice between more las cannons (the sentinels) and indirrect fire.  I could cut one of the hellhounds, but then I wouldn't have much by way of flame templates to flush units out of cover.  The other place that I could cut point is in the platoon structure: if I drop one of the command squads and push one of the remaining squads into the other platoon and make the other squad an armored fist squad, that would free up 160 points.  However, I do like having lots of moblie plasma around.

Finally, can you all see any way to free up enough point for a hooded inquisitor lord w/ cheap retinue?  Even though it works less than half the time, I'd like to have some protection against psykers.

If you drop 1 cmd squad and come up with 30 pts (do you really need the Honorifica?) you can add the folowing Inq squad which is almost identical in firepower and transport, but with better BS & armor save:

1 Ordo Malleus Inquisitor (Elites) @ 195 Pts
Bolt Pistol ; Close Combat Weapon ; Psychic Hood

1 Hierophant (+1 Ld to inq)
Laspistol & CC Weapon

3 Warriors (Stormtroopers)
Veteran Plasmagun (x3); Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades

1 Inquisitorial Chimera
Multi-Laser; Hull Heavy Bolter

I'd also add drop troops doctrine for the sentinels "just in case" Allows them to stay off table in escallation as reserves. I usually prefer autocannon sentinels for the 2 shots.
