I've just been lazy all summer.  It's not the season to be inside in a hot room sweating over plastic soldiers.  I've been outside doing other stuff.

But anyways, I have been tinkering with my Cadian Rough Rider Squadron, and finished up assembly of all 6 now.  Take a peek, let me know what you think.

Looking good, and nice casting on the front forks. And not really related, but when I click on any of the smaller pics I get big pics of your stripped Griffon project - the same 2 pics over and over, in fact. All the same, thanks for sharing, nice work.

That's so funny! Because one of my gaming buddies has left an unopened box of nobs at my house and I have no use for the marine bikes that came with my battleforce I decided to make some speed freak outriders or nob bike riders or whatever. Anyways, I noticed the base thing too. If you extend the forks even a little bit the normal base becomes too short. I did exactly the same thing you did!

As usual though, your stuff is awesome. Well done!

Nice job on these. I like the refitted front of the bike. My only qualm is with the biker hands. using a space marine hand just seems too big for me. Otherwise, these are awesome bikes. When I had originally planned to use Rough Riders, I had hoped to do the same thing you did. Then I realized how bad I am at modelling and painting the buggers, so I switched to PHQ counterassault and Hellhounds.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Whoops, I knew I was forgetting something in the website updates. I'll have to fix the full-sized images tonight or tomorrow when I get a chance. Thanks for the heads-up on that.

The Space Marine hands, I am not too happy with those myself either, so I am still looking for other options on that. Only 3 of them use that hand anyways and it's just the left hand. But yeah, it's kludgy still. The current thinking is that I will do them in the same color as the body armor, as a type of riders gauntlet as they are basically big armored mittens on the Marine riders already. It may not look too bad in that case, so I'll wait and see until after I get a bit into the painting. I have to clean up the wrists a bit too, as well as a couple of toes.

I did get one pose that I REALLY liked though with one of them. He's just slouching in the seat, has the head with the loose chinstrap, and has his knife kinda laying across his lap. That one, and the Sergeant, are going to be the showpieces of the set I think. The rest are just going to be fillers.

Oh, and for the rules portion. Counts As: Rough Rider squadron with hunting lances and close combat weapons. I may switch to las-pistols still, but I don't have enough of them and I want to avoid the temptation to stop and shoot with this unit.

There are hard-core modelers who do wild conversions, and there are hard-core modelers who actually cast their own parts for conversions. Bravo on some awesome work.

Dude... I'm thinking about stealing this idea... It's far too solid not to.

Orks are like those neighbor children who aren't invited to your parties and they come right in anyway.

Another long delayed update on this one. I've only gotten as far as basic colors, and I have a huge amount of painting work to do on these still. The workbench has just been too full of stuff lately, and painting the same color schemes too much can wear you down.

But, they are progressing still, albiet extremely slowly. Every once in a while I pull them out, paint a bit more.... I just need to get back into the mood for them. Thankfully I did finish up a couple of other projects that were wearing me down (the Valentine Tank for one, very demoralizing project).   That reminds me, I still need to photograph that direct-edition techmarine.  He came out pretty nice.

So, here they are, sorry I don't have much else to show at the moment.
