Subject: Deepstriking Jetbike?

The Skyleap ability allows the squad to be removed from the board, and deepstrike the following turn. So my Autarch on Jetbike can join the SH squad and come back down the next turn, (please note there is no requirement for SHWs in the entry for Skyleap - the power is granted to the SQUAD and is not based on equipment). Autarchs get the ability, and there is no prohibtion about its use with a Jetbike mounted Autarch.... Not as cool as the (illegal) deepstriking Avatar, but still pretty cool in that the Swooping Hawks carrying up the Jetbike.... Mez

Yes, IC on bikes can join jump squads. The only requirement is that all models move at the rate of the slowest model.
Mez- Are you constantly looking for loopholes as it's fun to poke at GW? I think it's a tried and true formula that GW does not write a super tight ruleset, this apparently being no exception. I've only seen one local guy that actually tries to push the envelope and pull out every gray area of the game in order to win. If you and your buddies all like to do this, cool. If you are the only one, you may find yourself lacking opponents. Not because your finding uber powerful combos, but more like irritating itches that can just suck the fun out of things.
In this case, I'm not even going to look it up. It sounds silly. Bravo, you may have found another GW oversight.

It's not exactly broken. I don't think I ever used DS with my Hawks in 3rd, because they were just too fragile to risk scattering in front of the enemy guns. The same logic applies now- even moreso because their saves suck out loud.
Just about the only real tactical application for Skyleap is grabbing a table quarter in the last turn which would otherwise be out of reach. Since the Autarch doesn't help you do that, this move falls into the "neat, but not very useful" category for me.

I just find it interesting. As you say, it isn't very helpful in game terms. The one helpful rule is the jetbike Autarch's use of fleet, which I will actually use, since I will probably equip him with a Lance where the extra D6" will come in handy.... Still, I plan to us Swooping Hawks too, so its nice to know if I need to get my Autarch out of a jam the Hawks can carry him up.... Still that takes 3 turns, so its just faster just to turbo-boost three times if I want to just get him somewhere fast. Mez

One thing to look at (besides glares from folks when you fleet a jetbike) is it states when the Autarch is on a jetbike, that's what he counts as. I'm not going to try to find it, but you may want to look to see if the model being counted as a jetbike still retains fleet.
Inadvertantly, I looked at the Hawks. The ability says the Exarch may carry his squad away. I don't see where attaching the IC to it, the IC counts as the squad. Again, it's a gray area you found as there is not really an explanation of squad and intercept isn't a universal special rule.
Again, I caveat it with this; if you and your friends play this style, great and have fun. If they don't, you may end up finding less and less players to game with.

'Note that Exarch powers can only ever affect Aspect Warriors and Autarachs in the same squad as the Exarch using them'
Eldar codex page 21
So an Autarach gains whatever Exarch power the squad that he's attached to has.
