Subject: A simple Viridian (VOID plastic) conversion

I was never too happy with the plastic Viridian Interdict Marine figures that came with the VOID 1.1 boxed game set. So, I set about to modify them a bit and to see if they can fit in as an IG or a PDF regiment, or even an Adeptus Arbites unit. Here's the result: Do all IG/PDF units use only lasguns? No projectile weapons? I'm not a 40K gamer, just a modeler/hobbyist, so my apologies if his choice of weapon offends the purists' sensibilities... More pictures of this trooper (along with a comic-relief Space Marine not-so-sharpshooter) on my website: www.weetoysoldiers.com/wp/

Nope, plenty of IG use stubber/auto weaponry. Ork fighters especially - the bangs you get from projectile weapons have a better psychological effect than the hissing of lasbolts. Also, nice looking conversion - looks really coherent.

Nice conversion. I agree that that looks waay better than the stock-build Viridians. A Q re: the helmeted heads - how do they size compared to a Cadian Head? Any idea where I could get my hands on just some of those heads, I'd like to play around with some conversions myself...

Do an eBay search for "cadian head" and you'll get a bunch of hits, including one for $2.99 for 10 Cadian heads...

Very cool. What else did you do besides the head swap? I'd love to see what he looks like with one of the Forge World "Cadian rebreather" stormtrooper. They're a little smaller than the plastic Cadian heads, but not by much. Anybody remember the name of the shop who's carrying the VOID plastics now? I remember someone somewhere (syr8766 maybe?) mentioning that they were still in production.

OK, I added a few more pictures, showing the ammo magazine with a flat bottom, and with a Cadian comm backpack. Gotta love all the extras on the GW plastic sprues!

Jeremy,
Follow the link in the original post to my website, and you'll see all that I did. Also, the name of the company is Scotia Grendel (link provided in my article).

Ooooh, very cool conversion. I like. I'll admit, I prefer the VOID helmets (with the face masks and all), but you've made a very convincing argument for using Cadian heads & equipment on those. Keep it up, I look forward to what other madness sprouts from your hands.
