Subject: Syberclicks, platformer kits - reviews?

Has anyone used the IMEX kits? Specifically the Syberclicks, Hexagon and Platformers. The hexagon and platformer kits seem like modeling projects that exceed putting together a Land Raider...something like 100's of little bits? Can you paint them on-sprue before assembling (hoping)? As an alternative since I'm lazy, I'm considering the Syberclicks set. But has anyone used this? I'm worried that after a few assembly/reassemblies, the clicky bits will wear out and/or break off. Thanks for any testimonials,

I have a set of platformers and have been thoroughly pleased. There are lots of fiddly bits but not nearly so many as the chemical plant. Eventually the connector parts do wear out. Most people seem to find a combo they like and then just glue them. That seems the way to go. The platformer and hexagoner sets are great for "tech" areas. While the cyber clicks are more "steam punk." Neither are exactly gothic. As an aside, the platformers do not work well with the pegasus gothic building. The cyber clicks are a bit better. They make (with some glue) really cool bridges between buildings. ender502

I've used the hexagon stuff quite a bit and the other kits a little. See link for a few pictures of some WIP terrain using the hexagon sets. I've got tons more but no pictures handy. http://www.freewebs.com/thespire/dromedianterrain.htm As far as painted and reassembly. I don't recommend reassembly, putting the kits together is a fair amount of work. I've only tried painted once their assembled.

I've been using platormer and chemical plant kits to decorate my Pegaus gothic buildings. I also found assembly too troublesome but they make nice decorations. http://www.pbase.com/kidkyoto/terrain

The Platformer stuff is cool, but I don't like the scale of the buildings you make with them. They seem a bit claustrophobic compared to the bulkhead and cardboard buildings you got with Necromunda.
Or you could go off the deep end like Tazok...I forget where he posted it, but he had like 20 boxes of Hexagoner purchased to form these awesome gigantic columns.

Yeah, I don't want terrain assembly and painting to compete with my army painting. I've still got 3 40K armies with only 800 points painted each, a Warmachine army with only the battlegroup done, and a 4th 40k army completely bare.
I'll probably just pick up a Syberclicks box to see what it's like.
I've already picked up some bridges/walkways from the local model train store that make great bridges between the buildings I have (not Pegasus, not GW...styrofoam ones made by some dude in the states somewhere).
Thanks for your input guys!

They take time, but they're really good. Too fiddly to change around all the time. Build them once and paint.
I bought three boxes of Hexagon to build my own drop pods and they're quite nice.

What about painting them on the sprues, or does that not work? That's how I do my tank treads for 40k, and it's really easy. The sprue connects on the edges where it will be hidden in the assembled mini anyways.
Are the Hex/Platformer kits not like that?

Well, I've gone and ordered a small platformer, small hexagon and a syberclicks set, along with 2 technobridges. I will probably try painting (spray black, drybrush metallic) some of them on-sprue and see what happens. Hopefully I will remember to post my results if they aren't too embarrassing.
