Im trying to figure out how to make bases that look like a temperate forest floor, the major hang up im seeing is that im not too sure on how to make the dead leaf forest floor or leafy under growth. If possible I want a brown -red leaves.

I don't think so, but crushed up dried parsley, and some other stuff is good. There are some that are just tiny leaves, but I am to tired to see what they are called.

Oregano works, as does basil.
But don't be like Olive Garden and overdo it. A little goes a long way. I imagine that you could use ink or thinned paint to color them orange.

Dried coffee grounds make a nice coarse soil, and your army smells delicious, too!

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Birch tree seed pods have little leave-like things in them. I think that's what is in most leaf litter products. Probably hard to find some on your own this time of year though.

Another one is if you are going for bases done like the floor of a coniferous forest, Dill Weed looks almost exactly like pine needles.
