I've read the other topic of an alternate fire prism mechanism, but for those of us with no modeling capability whatsoever, what sort of fix have you tried to get the model to sit well on the board. As we all know, the thing is so heavy and overbalanced it sits horribly on the flight stand if at all. I was considering placing three even bases under the model for more support, but i was willing to hear your ideas first. -Thanx

Try the little triangular plastic things that come in delivery pizza boxes.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

I'd be tempted to stick something heavy inside the other side of the hull, just to balance it out. Unfortunately, that may make it annoyingly heavy - and the heavier the model, the more likely it is to smash when it falls off the gaming table

Have you tried widening the hole on the underside of the falcon and setting it lower on the clear rod? Pressure should keep the model on the rod without the need for glue (which is also good to remove the stand and show a "downed" falcon), and a lower center of gravity should stabilize it quite a bit. As an added bonus, a lower flying falcon is easier to hide.

You might consider a scenic base type of deal, and build it up a bit. Reinforce the hole in the bottom of the hull from the inside during construction. Maybe glue a solid plastic block in there, and drill it out, so it's got some depth to it (it's a bit annoying GW doesn't mold skimmers like this in the first place). Then maybe use a thicker brass tube to stand it up, and a scenic base with something to conceal the rod (tuft of reeds). Use the same idea on the base as inside the hull, just a big solid block of material with a wide, sturdy rod set into it. If that doesn't appeal, you could try the three base idea, or you could use the single big clear base, and then just drill it out with three holes, and use three clear posts up from that. It'd be less pretty than the normal single post, but not too bad, and I think it'd be as sturdy as you can make it. You'd probably want to fill the normal hole in the hull, and drill three new ones to get it on center. Might even bias the placement a bit to favor the heavy (prism) side of the model.

Drill two more holes, use three flying stands and make a scenic base?
