I have a concern about the way to play drop pods with city ruins.

First of all, does a marine player need permission to use pods in Cities of Death?

Now assuming that the drop pod is placed in the street between buildings, but scatters to land in the ruin, what happens?  Ruins are described as dangerous terrain for vehicles, not impassible.  So the pod could theoretically land there, but would it have to make a dangerous terrain roll?  If so, how fast does it count as having moved?  Also, what if it isn't possible to position the pod model in the ruin?

I don't think there are answers to these questions in the rulebook, but if I'm playing a campaign with cityfight missions, these concerns might come up.  How do you play pods in cities?

The 21st century will have a number of great cities. You’ll choose between cities of great population density and those that are like series of islands in the forest. - Bernard Tschumi

The current arguement for Drop Pods is that their set-up is really "deployment' not "movement", so you answer your question with the question, can I deploy in ruins and what happens?

You dont need permission, but you would have to take the strategem to allow it.

Poisonrogue,

Drop Pods do not use the Deep Strike rules, so what Strategem would a player need to take?

The real answer to this query is (we had this discussion before), Drop Pods may be used in any of the "standard" CoD missions as the Drop Pod Assualt rules state.

Any of the special mission types would need your opponents permission as normal.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!
