So I finally got my copy of the codex, and I can start playing catch up.

Farseer Mannah'nin w/Spiritstones, Fortune, Doom = 130

8 Banshees w/Exarch, Executioner =150 in Serpent w/Brightlances, Spiritstones, Vectored =165

10 Harlies w/7 kisses, Shadowseer, Troupe Leader w/power weapon = 258

6 Fire Dragons = 96

10 Dire Avengers = 120

10 Defenders w/Scatter = 95

12 Defenders w/Starcannon =121

4 Jetbikes w/Shuricannon = 98

Warwalker with Scatters = 60

Falcon w/Scatter, Shuricannon, Holofield, Vectored, Spiritstones =205

64 models, 9 heavy weapons, 9 scoring units, 1498 points

I played my first game with it against another Eldar army last night, and picked up a win in Omega Recon, going 8 turns.  He had his two Falcons and Fire Prism left (1 Falcon and the Prism completely in my DZ, both having lost their main guns); I had killed Eldrad, an Autarch with wings, Hawks, two squads of Defenders, and two small squads of Harlies.  I still had my Banshees under half, their Serpent (sans BL), the Avengers over half in his zone, my Falcon and Fire Dragons (over half) in his zone, the smaller  Defender squad under half and the larger squad over half almost in his zone.  My opponent was about a half inch away from the Draw; if his second Falcon had been completely in my zone I would have only been up 139.5 points, within Draw range.  OTOH, if I had managed anything better than two weapon destroyed and a lot of Shaken in about 20-25 glances against his tanks, it wouldn't have been quite as close.

How did your farseer perform? Was he with the banshees? If he was by himself do you think he would have benefitted from a jet bike?

How did your opponent use his winged autarch?

My Farseer had always ridden with the Banshees, since I started in '99. Alas, with the current 4th ed rulebook FAQ ruling that he can't use his powers while embarked, that's less effective. I ran him with the Harlies, re-rolling their invulnerable saves and Dooming enemy units. I actually didn't get off any Dooms in this game thanks to Eldrad, but I only failed Fortune once, fortunately. He was eventually killed by Perils of the Warp (again thanks to Eldrad's Runes of Warding), but not until after the Harlies had made it (mostly intact) into HtH.

I don't think I'm going to go Farseer on jetbike. He could be effective with singing spear and a support power or two (Guide/Doom), but I like mine attached to a combat unit to Fortune them and himself at the same time.

I will almost certainly convert one or two Warlocks with spears on bikes to attach to Jetbike squads for a little more antitank punch.  Brightlances are ungodly expensive now, and this seems more points-efficient.

My opponent attached his Autarch to the Swooping Hawks. Power weapon and fusion gun, so he could break off for anti tank if needed, but the unit as a whole seemed intended to provide anti-infantry fire support followed by counterassault once the enemy got close. I mostly forced them to keep their heads down with my firepower, however. They lost a couple of members before getting stuck in with my Harlequins, along with one of his units of Harlequins and Eldrad. My Harlequins died, but killed 3 out of 5 of the Harlies and finished off the Hawks. My Banshees made it to HtH and finished off the Harlies and Eldrad. Just before they assaulted, their Serpent Tank Shocked the two Harlies, the Autarch, Eldrad, and a Defender squad. The Defenders ran off the table, everyone else made their checks but my opponent was overcome with temptation and went Death or Glory with the Autarch, who failed to stop the tank and died.

It doesn't look like it ought to work, Ragnar, although apparently it does. It looks like if you lose a grav tank early on against a very shooty army, then he can stand you off for the rest of the game?

That?s the biggest worry, obviously. I?ll have to test it some more to see how it works out. Remember this is only 1500pts, so there aren?t quite as many guns in the enemy army as there are in bigger games. At a larger points value I think I?d squeeze another assaulty unit in another tank- maybe a small squad of Harlies in a second Falcon, or possibly a squad of Warp Spiders with assaulty exarch. I think the Vectored Engines really make a difference for the Serpents, which they had better, for the price.

I took the big squad of ten Harlies because with Fortune they can actually take a round of rapidfire and still have enough killiness to do something. I took the Troupe leader per the earlier discussion about how he bottomloads the unit with power weapon attacks.

The jetbikes can actually be used to try and tie up a shooty unit if needed and create some LOS blockage. They are going to get the 4th guy upgraded to Spearlock once I do the conversion. I have a sneaking suspicion that the second unit of Defenders may wind up replaced by a second unit of bikes with Spearlock once I have enough models.
