I was thinking of a list with

autarach w/swooping hawk wings

3 min sized hawks w/skyleap

3 Falcons

2 guardians w/weapon platforms and/or Pathfinders

3 firedragons

Basically the point would be to keep the enemy from killing anything important.  The falcons would do the normal thing

The hawks (Joined by autarach) would rubber-band skyleap, using grenade packs.  Turn 6, everything would move to seize objectives.

With the Autarach +1 to reserve rolls, the hawks and autarach will never not come in from reserves, and (especially if you go 2nd) are untouchable points.

Only problem is random game length.  You'd have to keep them on the board from turn 6 on.

For ultimate VP denial youd have to min max to death. That said, simple 66 point squads of jetbikes will suffice. They can pop up attack to keep them out of harms way if they need to attack. Take objective etc. Alot better than gaurdians for this type of army.

Other than that, it looks like it could work, while still causing the opponent alot of anguish. To be honest though, those falcons stand a good chance of dieing.

There is noting else really on the board for the enemy to shoot at, so youre going to lose one on average I am sure.

But still, the VP denialshould be sufficient in certain games.

No offense, but you would win the "He pissed off the most players award" as it wouldn't even make for an interesting game for your opponent.

On the other hand if you matched up against a Necron Tourny list you'd be hosed beyond words.

I see no problem fighting a list like this. Sure its eliminating your VP's, but 3 units of Snakes on a Plane is hardly enough to win a game with.

Oh, I realize that it wouldn't be a fun list to play against. I'd only think of it for a no-comp tournament.

It also wouldn't be able to get a massacre result probably, but would have to play towards the objectives.

thats not a very good denial list, your relying on constant DSing and otherwise you have very few units on the board. there is no guarantee your always going to get your DS roll and what is left on the board will be overwhelmed especially against more mobile armies or armies with indirect fire.

always remember that no army in 40K is invincible but some do work better than others at certain things. my tau tank army works well at VP denial because it is all skimmers. it also does very well against CC themed armies, but because i have so many tanks necrons and IG armored companies eat me alive.

Well, when I thought of the idea, I thought the Autarch's +1 to reserves meant that everything comes on turn 4+ automatically...Turns out a 1 stil fails

Question about VP denial eldar lists.

In many of the local tournies I've run and played in, players are rewardered not just for winning games but also for earning victory points. A narrow victory is not good enough to win. You need to crush your opponents utterly to get to the top. Many game store tourny's just total your victory points for the afternoon. GTs seem to be structured in a similar way too. It seems to me that for casual 40k many of these lists would be mean, but they would fall in the middle of the pack at many tourneys.

That said, I've never played in a regular rougue trader in 4th ed. Does anyone have a good online reference for how RRTs are scored?

if you turn the falcons into fire prisms you woulld have potentialy 6 pie plates a turn, which would ruin many a horde army's day.

its probably a better idea to have a mix of VP denial and other killy stuff in the list.

Well, if they dont come, more point denial!

In the last tournament I was in, the ref decided that reserves that hadn't arrived counted as dead, full vps.

unless thier are special rules that say otherwise(like the elysians and thier valkyries and such) it has always been that way for as long as i can remember-models not on the table are not in game, models that fail to come in all game are considered lost due to not coming into the game.  just as if they deepstruck off somwhere off board IE not on the right battlefield

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Well, if you want a VP denial list, you should take a lot of Warp Spiders, Jet Bikes and Falcons.

The first 2 can shoot, then hide behind cover. The last are nearly indistructable.
