Between Iraq and a hard place

My first attempts at the female Commissar for my Elysians can be seen in this thread.  I've since taken the advice given to me, a dremel, a catachan grenade launcher figure, and some kneadtite and come up with this:

So what do folks think of the look and proportions now?  The green blob off the back of the head is just the armature for the hair/braids/ponytail.  Still have to do some sanding and sculpting, but I think I'm getting closer to the finished product on this one.

Now, if what I've got is a go, I have the following questions:
1) What to do for a cape/greatcoat?  Should I go with none to keep all the details in the open, some kind of sleevless waistcoat that drapes the lapels/collar over the shouldpads, or a simple cape attachment?
2) Does she get any ornamentation on her left shoulderpad?  Lieutenants and Sergeants get the double eagle, Captains and above have a wreathed skull.  Does the commissar get either, her own, or a plain shoulderpad as her having Elysian body armour is more of a munitorium afterthought?
3) Bolt pistol, or leave the laspistol as she's the only model in the entire IAv3 EDT list that can legally take a laspistol?

Once again, any feedback is appreciated.

See a lot of female commissars and this is truely the best one because she looks like a soldier not like the regiments sweet heart. Oh and do something with that ponytail it looks a bit strange.

I think a chest plate modification (boobies) and a full mane of hair ala SOB would do her more justice.

I like the rest of the figure but the hat looks a little too Napoleonic to fit with the hard nosed Elysian units. Maybe something a little smaller?

Exactly what I thought when I looked at her

I really like the proportions better this time- the legs really make all the difference.  I'm glad you've decided to add a pony tail as it helps to indicate femininity without going over the top.  If you'd rather a cheap and simple alternative to sculpting the pony tail you can find them on the spare head parts from the beastmen plastic kit.

What?  You guys aren't into a +1 to Ld for the Commissarial Cleavage?

Great idea on the Beastmen Bitz, though!  I just happen to have a sprue lying around.  Here's some test fits, not the final product which will need to be trimmed and blended to the head.  Should we go with Plain Ponytail, Battle Braids, Free-Fall Flowing? (apologies for the alliteration...)

of the 3, I prefer the top pony tail. The second is a bit thick and looks more like a mutant tail to me.

As far as the cleavage goes, I wasn't going for a Vampira affect. More like a star wars ST. Reality is that some female 2nd chance vests are made with mods IOT fit properly.

1.)I say....go with ponytail #1, its smaller and more "military" looking, unless she wants to get her huge ponytail stuck in some turbine or something?

2.)You could leave the laspistol, it makes her stand out even more. Then again....she might have better stuff to do then lug around a full combat load of bolt-pistol rounds so she rocks the las-pistol?   Besides the fact shes a woman, I wouldnt do the "boob" job on here...its a game come on....but if thats your thing knock yourself out...bla...

3.) Great coat? Hmm what about a great coat rolled up? Attached to the back side of her pistol belt? Much like a butt-pack Army grunts often mount on there LBV? There is a great bit on the New Chimera or tank accessoryl spure that is a small "rolled up something or other bit", or just make it out of greenstuff..Of course paint it the according colors.....

4.) Proportions are looking good.

It looks really nice, IMHO. I agree that a small chest plate modification is necessary (I'm thinking like adding 1 millimeter of GS to her chest, nothing OTT).

The hat is a little bit nuts to me. That HUGE emblem on it dominates the upper part of her body, and really takes away from the fact that she is not a male commissar. I think the only reason I would notice would be because of the ponytail. I would definitely recommend shaving it off, since the hat would no longer be a particularly prominent part of her figure, and would allow the eye to drift to the face, which will hopefully indicate in a more subtle way that this is in fact a woman.

I like the third ponytail the best, but I would say that if you shaved it down to about 2/3 of its current length, that it would fit better with the close-cropped hairstyle of military servicemen/women. Since she's a commissar, restrictions would be less important and would subsequently be less stringent, allowing for somewhat longer hair.

Other than those suggestions, she looks good. Great job, and I hope the painting goes well.

A slightly more reasonable ponytail MIGHT be the one that comes on Tau heads, if you clipped it off. It's scaled a little more properly, I magine. Skip GSing the chest, this isn't Commissar Lara Kroft here. As for the greatcoat, that's a matter of personal taste. Keep the big hat! I like it, it's a tasteful conversion that isn't just BOOBS AND HIPS LOL

Party on, dudes.

I like ponytail #1
I also am a HUGE fan of the fact that you didn't just go slap a pair of boobs on the model
it always looks tacky when guys do that and just makes me think "is this a turn on to you?"
I bet the hat will look sweet when painted, as it does look a little ott right now.
the greatcoat is almost a commissar necessity though, so even if it's billowing out so the body is still in view, I think she needs something.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she doesn't look like a bolter-*female dog*. It's just that women have a more prominent chest area, aka boobs for those of you who prefer crudeness, and should be able to have access to slightly modified body armor.

Notice that nowhere did I say she needs a GS pair of DoubleDs. Just put 1 to 1/2 millimeter of GS on that top armor plate - no roundness or anything. Just a personal preference, though - I'm hoping nobody will take that out of context and think I'm perverted.

The model still looks awesome though. Can't wait to see it painted.
