Played in a 1500 point tourney yesterday. I ran a total of 7 vehicles and one Wraithlord.

1 Vyper

3 Warwalkers

2 Wave Serpents

1  Falcon

1 Wraithlord (Brightlance and EML)

With all the vehicles, it became a bit difficult for my opponents to figure out what to target with their heavy guns. But, one of my champs of all the games was the Wraithlord. I ran Eldrad near him, so Fortune and Guide went on the WL nearly every turn. He was a fantastic heavy weapon support platform while my Falcon spent nearly half the games shaken.

Basically, I ended up getting more fire out of my Wraithlord than I did my Falcon. Due to not being able to cast Guide from inside a vehicle, I only rarely was able to Guide the Falcon.  To be honest, I don't think I'll go back to 2 Falcons in my list. In fact, I may look to cheapen up all the weapons on my Falcon now as he is mainly a heavy weapon sponge. Why pay the points for weapon upgrades if he only gets to fire periodically.

I can see the Snakes on a Plane having merit, which is why I'll still keep one Falcon, but I'm fairly confident I won't be running multiple Falcons.

Man, I really like the new Codex. So much to choose from.

well DUH!

you don't play tanks much do you?

the cardinal rule of vehicle heavy armies in 40K is run multiples-having one big jucy land raider, predator, hammerhead, falcon etc.....almost guarantees it will get ALL the attention of  every one of your opponants AT fire as often as possible,

looking at your list i am wondering why he didn't give more love to the serpents.......unless you dindt give them threatening enough weapons(like a TLd BL). falcons now excell at troop killin with a scatter laser, pulse laser and shuriken cannon.....you have 9 S6+ shots off of one tank. even hitting on 4s it is still dangerous to your enemy.

eldar tanks are among the best in the game now for an armor heavy force, tau may have skimmers that hit easier, split fire, kill lots of troops and survive CC assaults better with the proper upgrades, but on the flip side the eldar have thier own benefits like all being fast skimmers, reduce glancing 3's to 2s,  not dying when immobilised and even thier transports can threaten AV14 or terminators.(with proper upgrades)

wraithlords do look very cool now,  but they have always relied on thier toughness to survive without an invul save. which isn't really enough anymore with all the rending weapons on the table now not conting snipers., or other monsterous creatures.

Im new to Eldar and sorry to be a bother but what is the snakes on a plane thing?

I understand that Scissors can beat Paper, and I get how Rock can beat Scissors, but there's no f'n way Paper can beat Rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around Rock leaving it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody, a rock would tear that gak up in 2 seconds. When I play rock/ paper/ scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, oh gak, I'm sorry, I thought paper would protect you, you donkey-cave.

Fire Dragons in a Falcon; drive up, jump out, toast a tank/squad.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;

7 vehicles? Refer to the thread on 9 warwalkers and 7-9 vypers.

The main reason the wraithlord looked like a champ was target selection and threat. You target the falcon til it can't shoot, then move on to another target. The power of the falcon isn't it's ability to shoot - rather it's ability to maintain/save VP and be a continual threat (read triple threat: vp, shooty, mobility).

mughi3- I've seen a lot of praise about the multiple Falcon lists and I typically would run 2 and a Wraithlord (old codex). Getting two weapons on the Wraithlord now makes him even more attractive. Regarding all the nasty weapons to take him out, if I felt he would get shot by those, he at least would get into cover and Fortune cast on him. I lost him one time and it was by my own mistake of not knowing how many big shoots could fire out of a Battlewagon. Ooops.

nikeforever- Exactly my point. Why would I spend the points on a 2nd one when I can fill that slot with a Wraithlord that will actually get to fire every turn. The Falcon is so resilient it's ridiculous, but it's not too hard to get it to not shoot. Why fill a HS choice with another non shooter in a vehicle heavy army. I needed something that can get some good return fire and the WL fit the bill nicely.

I'm heading over to the WW/Vyper area.

My 1850 tourney list looks like this:

1 falcon with scatter and shuriken

3 serpents with TL brightlance, missile launcher and scatter lasers respectively (no shuriken cannon upgrades)

2 vibrocannons

1 wraithlord with a scatter laser and 2x flamer

10 dire avengers (mounted)

10 guardians w shuriken cannon (mounted)

9 harlies (mounted)

6 fire dragons (mounted)

8 man mini council (eldrich and fortune)

Worked out very well for me in the RT I played on saturday, since I didnt lose a game.

Probably would have taken over all if the Black Templar guy I played hadnt zoroed me on sportsmanship because "only galancing hits on skimmers is too powerful"..

Between the harassment of my vibrocannons and everyone shooting at my tanks and council my wraithlord survived every game.

I do like the flexability of the new codex quite a bit, and the wraithlord is a very good choice if he is taken cheap. Not so good kitted out in my opinion, since he then becomes a fire magnet (if your opponent has half a brain), and cant survive nearly as well as the tanks.

Ottaton, it appears that you have your harlequins mounted in a wave serpent? Unfortunately the codex doesn't actually allow that.

Well... Looks like I will be replacing my harlies with some Wraithguard and throwing some extra points into a few other areas.

I cant believe I missed that.

No one else caught it either, and I had 3 other eldar players check my list. Drat.

Its not like they did anything other than sit in the tank, but now I feel like an idiot/jerk for buying them that way.

Or, just drop a few of them, add a couple more Dragons so the Harlies are in the Falcon and Dragons in the WS. Easy enough fix.

I guess I just don't get to play enough these days. This was the first tourney I've played in several months and I never even playtested the army I played. 1 Falcon and 1 WL will be a mainstay. I guess the other question is whether to keep the War Walkers or put something entirely else in. But, with so many vehicles, the War Walkers did pretty well and I lost a total of 3 out of all 3 games. Not too bad for AR10 vehicles.
