Well, here's the first model I finished in 6 months Well, asside from a few extra guardsmen here and there... This is the forge world version, was really the same price as the GW one (when I bought it a year ago), so I figured what they hey.. I also have some of those FW brass eteched eagle symols on it too..

I have another one to do just like it and also a leman russ on deck .. forcing myself to finish all this guard stuff before I allow myself to buy anything else (like some of the new empire stuff

Wadaya think?

Very nice. It would be nice to see some insignia though- what regiment is it from? What division?

I love that you managed to pull the red off well without making it too bright and throwing off the black.

One more thing- I'd dump that skull on the bassie shield it's pretty obvious how cruddy it looks when you line it up next to the beautiful brass etched symbols from FW You must have extras left from the sheet

thanks yeah I agree about the basilisk.. actually when I first got it I was planning to file it off just because it didn't look as good as the newer emblems I can just get off other sprues... but I was too lazy so I let it stay

As far as the emblem goes, for this army anyway I wanted to keep things basic.. the only real "icon" that they have besides the eagle is the red triangle that goes on all the guardsmen shoulder pads .. I don't even have any kind of unit markings on the guardsmen either.. I didn't like the big shoulder pad number idea that's in the book.. i think they look cooler all looking the same But then, I do almost all of my armies like that, I'm beginning to think I have OCD or something

I think there is plenty of insignia as is, what with all of the imperial eagles and the occasional numeration. When one looks back on historical pictures of AFV's in combat (and not fresh from factory/parade ground or museum peices), there is a wide range of insignia from lots (particularly on captured equipment) to very little or none (recently camouflage/repainted, or operating behind lines, etc..). The latter is particularly true today, rarely does one find but the barest markings on modern AFV's operating. So there's my OCD blatherings!

Good to see ya back Necros! Long time no see! And what excellent work you brought to show us too. The only addition I can think of would be some dust and or debris atop the tanks, and that is only if you regularly play city fight. Even then you could get away without it. I'd hit it again with some dullcote though, some areas seem a little too shiny. Great work & welcome back!
