Many of us like to attend tournaments. One of the greatest things about tournaments is getting to play people you don’t play all the time or have never played before. What can be even more fun is running into people you’ve chatted with online, finally putting a face to a name, finding out what kind of a player they are and how nice their army really looks in person.
On many forums, people post that they are going to be attending an upcoming event, and try to hook up with other folks who frequent the forum. This is usually a bit haphazard and casual, and recently one of our members (Poisonrogue) suggested that we might try to organize it a little better.
The purpose of this thread is for folks who are interested to announce tournaments they will be attending so that they can meet and hang out or play with their fellow Dakkites. The thread will be sticky.
Rules:
- Each person should have one post and edit that post to prevent the thread from becoming too cumbersome and unwieldy.
- Include any and all events you will be attending to that post.
- Include some way to identify you. Your real name may be the best way (if you are comfortable sharing it), especially at large events, but your first name/nickname combined with a brief description of yourself, your army, your display base, or something else may serve as well or better. Even something as simple as “Alex with the Strawberry Shortcake Marine army” or “Ragnar with the Green and Bronze Dark Angels; I’ll be wearing my Dakka t-shirt”.
Reports on the event should go in Discussions or Battle Reports, as appropriate. We encourage folks to share stories about the event, hanging out with people, “what really happened when your Tau went up against the shoot Marines of Doom™”, or whatever. This kind of stuff can really be a lot of fun, and reading about it can increase other people’s excitement about events and the game. Happy gaming!
