This is a different kind of LaTD list, no mutants or demons, and quite honestly, it's not even particularly "chaosy", but it's theme is Alpha Legion led rebellion on an imperial world, think IG with some Space marines thrown in:

It's a very rough draft, I'm not sure if the points add up, but it's pretty near 1850.

I have the dirge caster, and Chaos Icon (not sure if that's the name - it makes any units within a certain radius fearless) to bolster the crappy leadership of the cultists, and a fair number of lascannons and earth shakers could ruin a meq's day

It's admittedly a fluff-laden army, but but how do you think it would perform?

Thanks

I guess it depends on who is getting the aspiring champions attached .

Traitors stink because of a Ld 6. With an agitator its 7.

Ever consider a hellhound or is that out side the fluff for these guys?

Chaos Icons only make units marked with MoCU fearless (Im 90% on that).

Everytime I bring up sentinels I get talked down from using them since they are very squishy.

For this army Furies and hounds may help where you have a lack of close combat. Furies are not the best daemon but points wise they have always broke even or killed more. Hounds are great on all accounts, I'm not using them because I dont have them yet .

Mutants which are far better than traitors could be used in a fluffy manner, even in this list. I guess it would be hard because of the lack of infiltration on those units though.

oh yeah, should have made the note..  Champs will be with the 2 full squads of traitors.  so they will have leadership 10 at least.  the other squads will either infiltrate into good position, or stay in a good position near the rhino with the dirge caster.

I don't know enough about hellhounds to know if they're a good choice or not...  I went with sentinels because they have the scout ability and though they are kind of fragile, I have seen them pull their own weight.  Move and fire lascannons is nice.

if you're right, about the chaos icon, that sucks.  My plan with that was to put the cultists in front of my chosen squad, and have a pretty cheap suicide squad (contemplating giving them meltabombs too).

I'll think about the mutants, furies and hounds, but I wanted to keep it mostly infiltrating human troops.  I agree, though close combat is a concern with this list.

I appreciate the comments, keep 'em coming.

Its not as bad as you think. Just keep the rhino rolling behind them. ALL chaos troops become fearless when within 6 inches of a dirge caster.

I just got one. Since heavy flamers tend to ignore cover saves, it seems like they will be amazing. Str 6 ap 4 template. A flame template that can be placed 24 inches away from the tank... in any direction to cover the most models possible. You roll once to hit at a 4+ and all of them are wounded. If you fail the roll, you then roll each hit individually. It also has a hull mounted heavy bolter. All that for 115 points.

Ooo.. I just noticed something. You can only have a traitor tank / fast attack choice for every traitor troop choice. The traitors in a rhino become fast attack. So I think it means you need 1 more traitor troop or one less tank / fast attack guard choice.

Slightly more models, but one more dirge caster, and one more lascannon in the hands of a BS4 model.

They will be pretty ok in CC, probably be interesting to deal with marines since the cultists will go at the same time as the marines if you charge the marines.

There is nothing at all wrong with 3 basilisks . You also have enough anti armor.

The only thing I could mention at this point are marks on the aspiring champions. MoCU is expensive but rerollable ld is nice. There has been a few times I have been brought down to the aspiring champion, boss and chaos icon but kept my ground because of the rerolling.

Oh and to be aware, it seems as though the infiltrating traitors lose that ability when they are joined by an aspiring champion. Even if the champion has infiltrate.

ahhh... I do seem to remember seeing that being debated a while ago...  it seems I have a few bugs to work out, but overall it looks OK?
