The main PPress front page has a size comparisson with the normal Dire troll...

I'd guess, 6-8" from base to knuckle. Maybe even more.... it's insane

He's $49.99 compared to $29.99 for the normal Dire Troll.  Sounds like PP is trying to start their own version of Forgeworld.

Now that is a nice model! Very nice paint job too!

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Its a non-standard limited run model that is all metal. Why do you think it would be cheaper than $49.99?

I would think it would be less than $49.99 because PP would never ever stoop to charge so much for a miniature.  After all, they're for the gamer by the gamer!  They'd never charge $50 for a SINGLE miniature, regardless of size.... oh wait, never mind...

Actually, this is a VERY limited run model and PPress (from what an insider tells me) has a cap of $50 for a single model.

This model is VERY large, it is almost double the size of a normal Dire Troll.

Ghaz has a point that it would 'seem' PPress is attempting their own FW BUT in reality this model was a "by chance" offer.

If you read the blurb in the link it will tell you that the original sculptor of the Dire Troll wanted to sculpt one for himself, the picture above is the result. PPress liked it so much they went ahead and ran a few.

If this were a Mass Production run, that model would be at least $75 due to the cost of the material and such going into making such a ginormous model and PPress would not ever charge that much for a single model.

That's why this a limited run, Online PPress Store Only offer.

This model ALMOST wants me to pick up warmachine. Heh.

In all seriousness though, it is a beautiful model. I could definitely see using it as a giant Chaos Spawn in a LatD army or somesuch.

I'll admit that if I had the money, I'd drop $50 on a model like that.  There's not many models I'll say that about.

That's sweet.

Is it just me or does it seem insanely OTT? It looks like an "extreme" version of the dire troll like a bobble head doll looks like a cartoon version of a person :p

I really parts of that model, but the face just throws me. I can imagine myself buying it and using a different head though

For me the head of the original dire troll was one of the best parts of the model, and on this one it's the worst part. Also the way the scales are coming out of the skin makes him look like he's growing from a little dire troll into a big one in the span of a few seconds. Know what I mean?

I'm not thinking too straight as I just got back from writing a 3 hour exam and I've been studying all morning for it :p I aced it for sure though Wish me luck on my Kinematics and Dynamics exam on Thursday morning- that one's worth 100% of my mark and the prof is really hardcore...

Well, an insider (Ali fluffy McVey) told me (and the rest of the cmon forums) that it's not a limited run, as far as she knows.

Please explain how a full run would be more expensive, per model, than a limited run.

HOLY FECKING HELL! That is definitely the single most awesome figure PP has ever, ever made. I mean jebus fecking H. cripes that thing is awesome!
:mouth hits floor:

And you people are pissing about for it being $50 for an 8" tall hunk of metal? What the christ? Are you insane? If GW made that thing it would be at least $100, their figures half that size or less and cost just as much while not being nearly as dynamic and often made out of plastic to boot! WTF?

Great sculpt.  Much better than the original.  Not an outrageous price, at least compared to the current GW Greater Daemons.  But if it's a variant for the existing dire troll, how about knocking the size (and corresponding price) down a chunk?

Here's a response on the PP boards:

""kind of"

Matt said they would continue to make it so long as it kept selling.

So when demand drops for it, production will likely end."

widderslainte: Well, based on the "lore" behind the sculpt, it was a person's
labor of love that they replicated.
