Straight forward, is it the large or small flying bases?

Drano doesn't exactly scream "toy" to me.

Its a small flying base but I am putting mine on cavalry bases. Not sure if I am allowed. The rules say I cacn put them on a large base, it is indeed larger but its slightly more narrow and much longer.

The cav base is what, 1.5" x 0.8" = 1.2 sq. inches. The flying base is a bit bigger than a 25mm base, let's say diameter = 30mm. Radius = 15 mm or 0.6 inches. So flying base area is around 1.25 sq inches.

Sounds about right to me, as long as my estimates of those dimensions are correct.

Plus it makes more sense for something that shape to have a base the same rough shape.

The small jetbike flying stands blow. The models tip over easily, measuring to and from them is counter-intuitive (the jetbike guns stick WAY out over the base- even farther than marine heavy weapons), and it's a major pain to scrum into base contact for HtH. Cavalry bases are a better option, but these are officially the awesome:

I bought one pack already and they work great. They've got a little more weight, too, so they're even more stable than the cav bases. I'm picking up at least one more pack of these. Tinfoil has them on his Chaos bikers, and there are several pics of them in the following report:
