I have stripped my old blood angels because the army doesn't appeal to me much any more (and as ti was my first army the paint job was horrible).  I decided not to use traits because I wanted to use a variety of unit types. This will be my first marine army under the new edition.

Chaplain Reclusiarch with Jump Pack, Bolt Pistol - 106

5 Terminators with 2 Assault Cannons - 240

Dreadnought with AC & DCCW, Extra Armour, Smoke - 113

6 Tactical Marines with Lascannon, Plasma Gun - 115

6 Tactical Marines with Meltagun, Drop Pod - 130

9 Assault Marines with Vet Serg & P.Fist - 228

8 Assault Marines with Vet Serg & P. Fist, Flamer - 212

Land Speeder Tornado with HB & AC - 80

Pred Annihilator with HB Sponsons, Extra Armour, Smoke - 138

Pred Annihilator with HB Sponsons, Extra Armour, Smoke - 138

TOTAL: 1500 points

I would love to know what you guys think of this, and how it should be improved.

I'm trying to use as many of my old models as possible, as it stands I would only have to buy a landspeeder and second tank, and convert my Dreadnought from Furioso pattern to complete this army. The basic idea is that the two tanks, Dread and Las/Plas squad form a firebase while the two assualt squads and attached Chaplain surge forward to meet the deepstriking terminators and second tactical squad.  I chose a chaplain to lead this army mainly because I think they're cool, and I think it suits the character of the army.

drop the pod on the one squad, it wont make enough of a difference. really another las/plas would be best to complete a decent fire base also drop the one assult squad to 8 models the 9th wont help that much and flamers are and all or nothing choice for assault marines, plas pistols are the better bet.

otherwise the list looks fine

i might keep the termies on the field though to help that fire base in certain situtaions.

Thanks for the tip about that flamer, I wasn't so sure about it myself, and I will likely take your advice about making that second Tactical squad another Las/Plas (or perhaps heavy bolter). The 9 member Assault squad is intended to accompany the Chaplain making it an even ten models, but I suppose dropping it back by one member might not be so bad.

If I were to make both Assault Squads 8-man, and drop the pod for Las/plas, I would have 37 points left over I believe. What would be the best use for those points? Alternatively if I keep the 9th Assault marine in the first squad I'll have 15 points left over.

Frags on the chappy would be a good start. Another 16 points could be spend on another flamer in the second assualt squad, and two plasma pistols in the first. After that I'm not sure. If you can find the points from somewhere (making an anni into a destructor?) a 6th termie might be nice.

Just so you know, joining the chappy to the 9-man assualt squad would not make it even numbered.  ICs are always counted as their own unit.

Updated list here, I'm wary of how the Destuctor will perform compared to the Annihilator, but honestly I do love the single barrel traditional tank look of the Destructor and am pretty happy to use it.

Chaplain Reclusiarch with Jump Pack, Bolt Pistol, Frag Grenades - 107

6 Terminators with 2 Assault Cannons - 280

Dreadnought with AC & DCCW, Extra Armour, Smoke - 113

6 Tactical Marines with Lascannon, Plasma Gun - 115

6 Tactical Marines with Lascannon, Plasma Gun - 115

8 Assault Marines with Vet Serg & P.Fist, 2 Plasma Pistols - 216

8 Assault Marines with Vet Serg & P.Fist, 2 Flamers - 218

Land Speeder Tornado with HB & AC - 80

Pred Annihilator with HB Sponsons, Extra Armour, Smoke - 138

Pred Destructor with HB Sponsons, Extra Armour, Smoke - 118

TOTAL: 1500 points

Thank you for the advice, I like the list much more, though it now leans more toward long range than assault, I think that it will be more fun to play. I'm sorry there's no meltaguns in there (I think they're the coolest) but that can wait perhaps for the 2000 point expansion.

I don't think you'll have a huge problem with armor. You have 3 lascannon units (one of which can move and shoot), 5 units that are moderate anti-armor (the assualt cannons, autocannons, and plasma pistols, all of which are mobile), and 2 power fists and a DCCW for assualting armor. That's not really all that bad.
