I played the Salamanders with some success a couple of years ago, and I would like another go at them. Trying to adapt to the new rules and the new codex I came up with the following army list. I tried to follow the background as hard as I could, with lots of Flamers, Meltas, Thunderhammers and Terminators.

Whats your opinion?

Salamanders: Cleanse & Purify, Never Despair, Eye to Eye

HQ
Chaplain (Reclusiarch) - Bolt Pistol
/86p
Command Squad
7 Marines - Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapon, 2 Flamers
1 Company Champion - Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Combat Shield
1 Veteran Sergeant - Bolt Pistol, Thunder Hammer, Combat Shield
/217p
Drop Pod
/30p

Elites
5 Terminators - 2 Heavy Flamers, 1 Chainfist
/225p
Drop Pod
/30p

5 Terminators - Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield
/200p
Drop Pod
/30p

Troops
9 Marines - 2 Flamers
1 Veteran Sergeant - Bolt pistol, Thunder Hammer
/211p
Drop Pod
/30p

9 Marines - 2 Meltaguns
1 Veteran Sergeant - Combi-Melta, Melta Bombs
/205p
Drop Pod
/30p

10 Marines - Multi-Melta, Flamer
/166p
Drop Pod
/30p

Heavy Support
10 Devastators - 4 Multi-Melta
/230p
Drop Pod
/30p

The Hammer

Hmm - Sallies would be the best excuse to use the Uber-Chaplain of Doom (TM) - Thunder Hammer, Crozius Arcanum, +1 W upgrade, Bionics, Adamantine Mantle and Jump Pack. The Mantle used to be a Sally-unique piece of wargear, and Sally Chaplains used to be able to replace their Crozius with a TH free of charge. Hammer allows for Tank Hunting and duels with Monstrous Creatures - after he survives the initial barrage of blows, he will not be struck down before dealing at least some damage to the beast.

I don't know about the Termies - Thunder Hammers tend to work best in pairs and with an LRC to get their Lightning Claw-wielding brethren into assault. Heavy Flamers are plain old terrible. However, depending on your tactics they might work for you - I'm not too experienced with pods. However, I don't think multi-melta Devs would make the best choice for a Pod unit as they can't shoot after landing. I've heard of some who use them successfully as anti-transport weapons. For pod units, dual melta would probably be the best compromise between fluff and effectiveness. (Cleanse and Purify)

Also, were I you, I'd just get some playing experience in with the list you can make from your existing figures under 4th rules just to get a better feel of them to better apply what advice we dakkaites can provide.

An INCREDIBLY cheesy and dodgy (IMHO) way to build your Sallies as a Terminator army would be to use Imperial Fist doctrines to have access to Captain Lysander, THE pre-eminent leader of Tactical Dreadnought Armour. He even carries a Thunder Hammer...this relies on the willingness of your opponent as (IMHO) special characters become opponents consent when you're using counts-as.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

I don't know about you, but using Lysander all of a sudden in a Salamanders list kinda kills the Salamanders list. Also, I don't think the Sallies would be so pleased if the Imperial Fists Captain would suddenly come and tell 'em what to do. Same goes prolly for Lysander.

But otherwise I think it's a really cool and great armylist. Not ofthen one sees Terminators in droppods. Really cool.

Cool idéa with the Dev.squad, good for claiming a quarter and having a good firepower to take out any vehicle or other threat.
