I've been working on a list that takes advantage of two types of infantry delivery: drop troops for the special weapon guys (HQs & Veterans) and infiltration for the basic troops (missile launcher & Plasma Gun).

Does anyone run a list like this one?  If so, how does it work for you?  Any pointers?  Any and all advice is deeply appreciated.

DOCTRINES:  Drop Troops, Light Infantry, Special Weapon Squads, Veterans, Close Order Drill

HQ:

Command HQ Drop Platoon - 80 (Junior Officer, 4 Meltaguns)

Special Weapon Drop Squad - 63 (1 Demo Charge, 2 Flamers)

Drop Sentinel - 45 (Multilaser)

 

ELITE:

my list is a bit more fire support oriented
i use 6 mortar teams 6 rocket teams

a mixture of plasma melta for the drop troops

jr officer plasma pistol master vox 2 plasma 1 melta

sentinel improved comms

2 basilisks ic's

for 1850 i add a leman just for the hell of it

the rest drop troops with a mixture of plasma and melta guns

I like it except for hte sentinel (as a policy I like to run the rule of two when it comes to vehicles. I would suggest switching out one or two platoon command squads from four meltas to four flamers for a very nice antiassault kick. I'm assuming missile launchers to deal with both MEQ/vehicles and hordes. I think you'll find sentiment tends to be against them in a guard force, but your usage may vary (I'm nuetral). Similarly there will eb argument to remove the flamers from the demo squads but thats also a season to taste thing.

Light Infantry & Drop Troops are my 2 favorite doctrines. I'll echo the calls for fewer melta guns and a few more plasma/flamer JO units. I'm not sure if you need light Infantry on all the platoons- you could save a few points by only infiltrating 2 instead of all 4.
