Hey guys,

I have recently finished my first army ever, I am the tons of interest, little finish type of guy!  But finally I got Hive fleet Gojira done (Tyranid Monstrous Creature army) and it's now 2-0!  Pretty good for not playing in some time!

Now I look toward the future.  I had put a Black Templar army on hold to do the tyranid army.  Now I have come back to the Templars and they are based upon Doghouse's Chaos Warrior/Marine hybrids for those of you who check out B&C.

So anyway, I have most of the army just about done in terms of assembly and painting will be a breeze (I love mostly Black Armies!)  So i have hammered out this 1500 point list and I am looking for some advice such as...

Does it have enough AT power?
Should I drop a Chaplain for a Marshal?
Will it be ok for lack of mobility? ( I think it is fine, my zilla army has yet to suffer and it's slow as dirt rolling uphill!)
Sould I drop both dreads for 2 more Las/Plas Squads??

So anyway onto the list and let me know what you think?

Thanks,
Chappy P!

I'm not overly keen on dreads - from a gaming point of view.

Venerable dreads are great but basic dreads not so good IMHO.

You could drop one, make the other vennerable and then see where you could free up some more points to try and get a pred anni. This will increase the survivability of your main anti tank and increase it's tank killing abilities.

Points could be saved in your cc units. If you want to keep your initiates in the majority you could swap 2 - 3 for neophytes in each squad freeing up more points.

Alternatively you could drop the EC's cc squad and beef out the 2 chaplains ones.

In this list I don't think that swapping one of the chaplains for a marshall would be advantageous. Better keeping the chappy and servitors for speedier movement. Only your 2 las plas units will really miss having the marshall for RZ as every other sqd will have high leadership anyway.

I do think this is a fairly solid list, I'm just putting my spin on it.

Cheers

The Las/Plas might not be the best idea in the world for BT seeing as how they'll move around a lot if they take some losses, and will also tend to shoot at whatever they want to shoot at, since they'll be using Ld 7 for Target Priority checks.

I agree with Bartius about the Dreads. Drop one, make it venerable, and it suddenly is twice as good, leaving you about 100 points to play with. You could use these to beef up the weaksauce anti-tank of your list by taking a pair of Multi-Melta Attack Bikes. I have two in my army, and I always thoroughly enjoy popping armor as quickly as (if not more quickly than) an AC Tornado. Meltaguns in Crusader squads are only so-so, even in urban zones or dense forests where they can sneak in unimpeded by enemy fire.

Marshal's are nice because of their Ld10 gobal bonus, but not necessarily worth it for this list. The Cenobytes with your Chaplains will be incredibly useful - I've seen what they can do for a squad, but am too lazy to go pick up some of my own.

Not tried attack bikes CK but I may invest in a couple as I regularly face a dread and whirlie heavy army.

Thanks for the replies!

@Bartius:

Hmmm...I originally had one of the two dreads venerabled...I had thought about a pred, but with 1 dread and a pred, I figured that they would both be shot to heck at least the pred would. That's when I thought about dropping both dreads for 2 more las/plas squads and using some of the pojtns saved to bolster the CC squads.

@Corpsman:

I am not a huge fan of bikes, at least with the way I am currently modeling my army. I have thought about dropping a dread to get some Landspeeder action for tank hunt and table quarter/objective grabbing mobility.

Maybe I'll have to proxy a few versions of the list and see what works best and what sucks big time.

Any other thoughts/opinions/comments??

Thanks Chappy P!

They wouldn't be shot to bits any more than 2 dreads would.

Moving 1 to ven increases its survivabilty and a pred has better front armour plus more firepower.

Give it a try and see with the las plas squads see how it works

I think what I am gonna do is try the various suggestions made by both of you guys so far. I might mock up another 2 las/plas squads, I'll try the Ven Dread/Pred and I'll try it with some Speeders. As So as I get them finished up, I'll try her out and let you guys know what I did and how I did.

Thanks,
Chappy P!
