I'm going to credit Mahu for part of this idea, though it's been percolating around in my head. Feel free to jump in if you don't think the particular rumor I'm operating with is correct.

Here's the skeleton that Mahu described already:

Master of the RW - 205?

2 x full Ravenwing bike squads (6 dudes, 2 meltaguns, multimelta attack bike, Tornado speeder) (750ish)

3 x 1 Tornado speeder (255 or so)

~~ 1250 (+/- 50)

So what do we add to that?

HQ: Certainly not another highly priced single model. I think we should skip this concept unless one of them turns out to be a gold mine.

Elites: The deathwing are ridiculously overpriced. but would it be worth taking one squad of them, with a mix of assault weapons and an assault cannon, with furious charge? It always gets to deepstrike on the first turn, so that's pretty handy (basically a free deployment anywhere within 6" of your bikes).

Elites: Scouts? I don't really think so.

Troops: Meh. More RW squadrons maybe? But at like 350-450 each they're kind of prohibitive, despite having 4 scoring units.

Fast: We could add a bullet-catcher speeder to the squadrons.

Fast: We could also add some meltabomb toting assault marines and lose one speeder.

Heavy: Whirlwinds with Anti-cover-save rounds seem like a natural fit for handling this list's horde weaknesses.

Heavy: Predator destructors seem like another possibility, weighing in at 110pts each and providing yet another heavy armor slot.

Thoughts?

The biggest weakness I see is that so far, there's no word on whether or not we get a vet sarge with a powerfist in our RW squads. That could make or break this list.

Would you go with the master on jetbike or the master on speeder?

Three Pred Destructors would work pretty good with this list as it would help pump out the firepower. Add in an Assault Marine squad to bring it up to 1850 Points.

Definitely speeder. Av 14 skimmer with twinlinked assault cannon and heavy bolter v. S4 guy with a power weapon on a jetbike - easy choice in my book.

Throw in three predators and you've got a pretty good armored core I think - 4 x AV13+ vehicles.

Some other possibilities:

- 5 man squad w/vet sarge, lascannon, unmodified 35pt rhino (140 pts?)

Stack enough of those in there and you've got a crapload of mobile terrain and some extra lascannons.

I was thinking about doing an Imperial version of the Daemonbomb. I'd imagine that I would use the ravenwing squads to help bring down a few assault terminator squads and let then hack down the enemy while bikes and speeders do their thing (tank hunting/table quarter grabbing, etc.,etc.,etc.) But that's just me.

One other question longshot: Would your Vet sarge take the lasCannon?? Is that an option?? The rumpr I heard is that Space Marine Tac squads are either 5 or 10 man, nothing inbetween. If you have 5 men, then you only get a special weapon. If you take a 10man squad, then you can take both a special and a heavy weapon as well as split the unit into 2x5man tac squads, but the special must remain in one and the heavy in the other...again, I don't claim fact, just the rumor I have heard/read...

Thanks,
Chappy P!

well longshot your talking ravenwing and as a pure ravenwing force we have been screwed every fast vanilla marine DIY army and white scar list can now outgun us for less points. the only good thing we really got was fearless

the new dex if the rumors are true makes you take lots of regular bikes and lots of regular speeders to get a handfull of decent stuff. it has effectively killed my pure RW army. out of 27 models i could salvage 12 to use with the new rules.

to avoid having to buy tons of models i am using stuff i aldready have in my deathwing and 3rd company and combining it with some of my ravenwing stuff to make a hybrid army and the good news is i only need to buy 3 new models.

that being said-master on a bike of you want to cooleness factor

master in his speeder if you want it to be effective, especialy if they let us keep the all seeing eye rules.

I know that the ravenwing squadrons split up for scoring purposes (1 unit splits into 4)... but do they split for victory points purposes? What I mean is if I kill the speeder, do I get points for that speeder or do I have to kill half bikes too?

ok after reading the new dex the bike actually seems a bit better,  the speeder lost the all-seeing-eye rule, the invul save and the free drive-by sword attack.....

id be happy about that if it went all the way around instead of the front/sides. the invul save worked from any direction.
