Here is another army I am being tempted with.

What is the best way to field them. I figure an bunch of Wyches in Raders popping out of a Webway portal would be fun. Backed up with a crap load of Dark Lances.

I am not concerned with the models because 90% of the army will be conversions if I decided to field them. The only models that I like out of the Range is the Raiders and the Incubi.

Current Armies: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard (40k), Skorne, Retribution (Warmachine), Vampire Counts (Fantasy)

Wytch Cult with a Web Way is pretty effective. One of the guys in my gaming group uses that army and it's pretty nice. When used with homonoculi to carry portals (not sure if that's possible in a Wytch Cult) you can effectively get a free move up to deploy the webway portals with your untargetable IC's, once the Web way portals have been deployed forward enough, the wytches/raider squads that come running out of it in raiders can effectively charge anywhere on the board.

The only down side I see with reling to much on Wyches in Radiers is against Skimmer lists. That's why I am thinking of sticking with the regular list and taking multiples of Dark Lance toting Warriors and fill the elites with Wyches.

DE can be viable for a good player. If you don't have experience with fast/fragile armies, expect to lose a lot in the beginning against better players, just because everything the DE have die just so darn easily.

From earlier threads, it has been shown that of the small number of DE players that enter the larger GT style tournaments, a larger percentage of them score highly on battle points than most other armies, but I am willing to bet that this is more because of the quality of player that decides to take DE to a comptetive event than the power of the army itself.

Of course, just like most armies, the best way to succeed is to maximize the most effective units and avoid the least effective.

100 point 2 DL warrior squads just cannot go wrong. Archons tooled for CC are a must, though Incubi can be a toss up. They are very killy, but slower than the rest of the army and quite expensive. Wyches are a must, preferably mounted in raiders. Ravagers are also quite powerful, especially given their cheapness; they'll die quick, but if you play it right, they can kill much more than their points value.

Taloi can be quite good, but they are slow and give your opponent something worth shooting their anti-tank weapons at. Reavers also can be good, but they are expensive for any role that you can find for them. I have seen some people do well with suicide anti tank squads of three with 2 x blaster.

Scourges are overpriced; and who decided to give jump-troops heavy weapons? Hellions...I just plain don't know what you're supposed to do with them. They're not good in hand to hand and they're not good at shooting. Some people swear by mandrakes, but I think any good opponent will simply ignore the markers for the simple reason that they just plain aren't going to do anything when they finally do reveal themselves. At best, they are a resilient objective claimer with the bonus to their cover saves. Lastly, grotesques....with their beaten enemies auto-fall back rule, they could be interesting for getting lots of sweeps, and their feel no pain rule could be interesting. I haven't played with them, so I'm just not sure. The big thing is that grotesques take up wych slots.

Anyway, I've been playing DE for about five years now, and I have about a 70% win ratio with 4 RTT wins with them in the last two years. I have to admit that it seems harder and harder to win as the new codices come out. New SMs are much harder to beat than the old ones; assault cannons are just mean. Necrons have always been trouble. Now, I've found that Mech Tau can be a real challenge.

DE can be effective, but understand that against other good players you'll usually have a good, hard game. Against lesser players, you'll usually table them.

Yes, DE are still viable, and getting a new codex within the next year or two from what we hear.  The abundance of Dark Lances/blasters and disentegrators makes me very happy   Shredders are awful btw.  Splinter cannons have their moments.

Wych Cults cannot have Haemmies, talos, or grotes, but Sybarites hanging around with the Warrior squads can tote the portals.

Raider Rush style is pretty limited and has died out in larger games due to the entanglement rules when a raider gets shot down.  That is why most have migrated to the portal army.  I use one most of the time.  Now, that does not mean you have to use the portal though, you could always choose not to.

Tooled up lords, lots of warriors mostly sniper squads with 2 DL's, Haemmies especially with the acid template, wyches, the occasional warp beast pack, Ravagers, and Talos out of portals are all good to use.  RJB's with 2 blasters are good for tank hunting those indirect firers, but that lack in assault.

The trick with necrons is to assault and contact atleast two squads.  When the teleport out, they are all bunched up for a disentegrator shot, normally you could get a fair chunk under the models.  A tooled up lord + grotesques clears out Necrons if played right.  Ignore any monoliths unless you have a good deal of luck, or have a goblet of spite and some haywire grenades.

I also play mandrakes, they are fun to use, and help in assaults where needed.  They also tear up T3 units, but lack in taking down anything tougher especially something like a Walker that can lock them up forever.

As stated, Hellions and Scourges are not worth the points, but Hellions look great.  Giving the board to a haemmie or lord is not a bad idea, or bikes for that matter.

Makes sure you get the 2nd edition mark on the Codex, and you will be set.
