Seeing as I am new to this forum but likes being recognised, I will tell you all a story. It ll started two months ago. A friend of mine finally started playing Warhammer 40k some 5 or 6 years after me and he enjoys it alot. I have my 2000+ points Iyanden force that he have been facing but I'm not really satisfied with the paintwork anymore (i painted them som 3-4 years ago and time takes it's toll). So the challenge came into being. From today (monday 12/3-07) I will have 3 weeks to build and paint atleasy a 1250 points force of Eldar. (What can I say? I just like Eldar). The only reason to why I dont paint a lager force is that I must share the time with my education to become an engineer. I intend to keep you all updated on my progress and hopefully, I can borrow a camera and post some pics aswell. Progress so far: Built 16 Eldar Guardians and based them, will spraypaint them later today 5 Eldar Rangers spraypainted Planned for tomorrow: Start painting the guardians. Hopefully all 16 finished by nightfall aprox. 5% finished

Have a list you're building toward? Or a pile of models ftw?
Good luck all the same!

My preliminary list consists of two parts. The models I have, and the models I need to buy. The models I have: 16 guardians 5 rangers 5 warp spiders 1 falcon The models I need to buy might change but are at the moment: 6 striking scorpions 10 dire avengers 1 wave serpent and either vypers, warwalkers, harlequins or a wraithlord to fill up those last points But in short. I will paint the models i like. I dont really care about a winning army, I care about an army I am proud of (hey, I already know how to build the basic winning Eldar army, now I'm trying other ways to play) Oh, and you might wonder about the colors. Green! Not striking scorpion green or Dark angels green. Just that nice smooth and calm Green. With white accessories and red jewels. Tin bitz and black weapons (and maybe helmets... not sure yet).

Day 2: As it turns out, it only took me one day to end up behind scedule. But, that schedule told me I would be finished after 2 weeks instead of 3. Oh well... The painting part could have been more effective. When I finally sat down to paint, the sun set and it became too dark to work. Either I need a good lamp or start painting earlier. So instead I'm now converting my Avatar. I've always loved the picture on page 25. So I sawed off a part of the left shoulder to change the angle on that arm. Sawed off the left hand so I can put it in a slightly different angle. Sawed off the elbow on the right arm and I'm now pinning it in a almost 90 degree angle. Wow, I'll really need loads of greenstuff for this conversion. And considering Im not that good at greenstuff, this will be a challenge. I'll try to get a camera tomorrow so I can show you how it looks. Still in pieces now but... you get what I mean. Done so far: started painting guardians firs step of Avatar conversion finished To do tomorrow: finish those guardians (earlier in the day) find my hiding rangers (where did they go?) continue converting my Avatar

Don't suppose you got a digital camera laying around somewhere so we can see your progress? Much easier to dump derisio.. er, constructive criticism when we can see what we're talking 'bout.

I intended to borrow my parents digital camera when i was home yesterday. I remembered to ask about it but forgot to take it home with me. Guess I'll just have to use the camera on my phone, better than nothing I guess. Day 3: Really started to paint today. I need to have a simpler and quicker way to paint things. And less other thing to do. I painted the guardians dark angels green, painted the plates with goblin green aswell as a drybrush on the rest of the model. After this, a wash with dark green ink and then goblin green on the plates again. 7 guardians finished to this stage. I decided on white helmets and red gems. But that will come later. Day 4: The last 9 guardians have been inked. I will see if I pull a midnight run and paint the plates (after the pub that is...). I really need to find those figs I know I have here somewhere... And those aspect warriors will definatly be painted easier. I'm thinking of drybrush+inking for those. No time consuming plate-painting no matter how much I like the result. I got a bet to win!

Day 5: Now I only need to paint the white and red on the guardians. Aswell as the arms (I paint them seperatly). However, I did find those missing figures today and have painted my Falcon to 80% completion (except the tower). I mottled it in true Alaitoc style as I've never tried that before. I really like the result. I did take some pictures with my camera-phone but cant transfer them to my computer... annoying... When I think about it, I will have another chance to borrow a camera tomorrow... I'll make the call right away.

Day 6: very productive day. Most of the white are painted on the guardians and only details remain on the 5 rangers. I did get to borrow a camera today, but forgot the cord so I cant get the pictures to my compute yet. I'll get the cord tomorrow...as it is 1 AM here as I write this, I'll keep it short and fall asleep.
ZZZzzz
I have a feeling that this will not be the last time I stay up late painting...
