As I understand it, we were supposed to see High Elves released in late spring, and Vampire Counts in the fall.  Or maybe it was the other way around.  And then those two were swapped.  And then GW announced the Nemesis Crown campaign for the summer, which is supposed to have new units for all the armies (?), which increases the confusion even more.

So what is the latest iteration of the rumors?

Cool on the Counts happening soonish ... Myself, I've only heard of High Elves happening in the coming months, though I am just now realizing how behind I am on fantasy news

Rumor is High Elves are sometime this spring, then the summer campaign, and VC in the fall, but with the WHFB rumor mill clamped up tighter than Fort Knox nothing firm is getting out. The summer campaign I find particularly amusing since they all but pulled the rug out from underneath the SOC players not even a year after the book was out by banning those lists. They have since flip flopped on this (well, for some lists at least), but the issue remains the same: why put together a summer campaign list for tourneys when it stands a high chance of being tourney illegal a year later?

Last I have seen is actually High Elves in the fall/winter with VC next year. We haven't heard much at all about the High Elves at this point so I would really doubt the spring release. They are more gearing up for the summer campaign and all of the special characters and releases around it. There are gaps in the release schedule towards the end of the year, so a good chance 40k Chaos and High Elves will be the end of year/Christmas release.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

QFT.

Part of the reason why we see so many Space Marine Armies is that players know they'll still be there in a few years. People don't play other armies because of the lingering fear that if they buy DE or Sisters they'll get the same treatment as the Squats a year later. Given how significant an investment an army is for many people, it's a justifiable fear.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Even Dark Eldar will not go the way of the squats. they could go the way of the Chaos Dwarves though and be left with an old codex or patched list for perpetuity. Chaos Dwarves are still canon, and still use the Ravening Hordes list, the only army to do so.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

...and still have the most annoying artillery in the game. Dam' Earthshaker cannon...

Gubs, that's a nice sculpt.  One of yours?
