Hello there Dakkites. Maybe you've seen this guy on CMON or B&C. Maybe not. I came to value the opinion of everyone here, mainly due to how welcomed I was. Again I bring my latest work for your perusal, please let me know what you guys think of it, and any nput offered on how to improve will surelly be appreciated: For more views on the model (side ones) check the latest update on my blog (http://paintingfrog.spaces.live.com/) there are a couple of comparison shots there as well give the fact I tried to do him as a ture scale marine.

looks good overall, but the mud/rust? looks a little to clean and bright for my tastes. particularly because it doesn't match the base of the mini.

So how do you guys recon I'd achieve a proper rust look? so far I've been usinf vallejo's "parasite brown" (game color) and Orange fire (game color) to try and get the proper look.
I'm trying to show rust which flows down with rain from a rusty spot on the armor.

Try using a smaller streaks. As is, the "drips" are too big. It looks more like Nurgle slop than rust to me. Darker/ dirtier color for the armor might help.
I do like the concept you are going for. I think a few tweaks will get you where you want to be.
Keep in mind, I am nit picking this. Your skills are far superior to mine. A great looking mini minus the critiques.

I thought the rust on his chest piece was a "tiger striping" at first. You really need to ease up on it. 'Less is more' and all that stuff.

I think the removal of all of the rust would make this mini look better. Right now it's a distraction, and I never thought that power armor would rust.

I can see rust or wear as an option. Marines fight in corrosive invironments or 13th Company SW who have to refit with salvaged junk. The backpack looks okay, but the rest of it really needs to be taken down a notch. The biggest problem is that orange is the opposite color of blue and clashes.

I find the best way to paint rust is to dapple on some snakebite leather, followed by fiery orange, this gives a kind of drybrushed effect which looks more realistic as rust!! good luck
