Hey all,

I am closing in on finishing my second army for 40K, just one more unit and a few highlights and I'll now be the proud owner of 1500pts of Nid-Zilla's and Ultramarines.  Before I started both of these units, I had been working on the Dark Angels.  When I heard about the future release of the DA codex, I put the project on hold, but nearly finishing close to 30 marines with full highlights, etc.,etc.,etc.

Anyway, I have been a fan of the DA's ever since Rogue Trader, but I am not so horrified by the codex as some people are.  Looking at what I have done, and what I have left in terms of Marine bitz, and what seems to be the strengths of the DA list, I have come up with the following...so tell me what do you think??

(As a side note, I am not really in a competative area.  Most people who I have played against have good list, but not Mauleed pattern marine type of powergamer cheese list (except for my zilla list which most people like to play against where I game)  And no offense to Mr Mauleed, my Ultra's are PARTIALLY based on the early Mauleed pattern shooty marine list.)

OK, the list....going from memory:

Chaplain with Jump Pack - 140pts

2x10 Marines with Las Plas mounted in Rhino - 520pts

2x5 Marines with Meltaguns with Razorbacks - 300pts

1x10 Assault Marines with Vet Sergeant with Powerfist - 260pts

2xPredators with Las Turret/Hvy Bolter sponsons - 260pts

Total: 1480pts

20 pts left, what to do??  How does this look??  Let me know....

How about power weapons on the sgts in the 10 man tacs? It would round them off and make them very worth it in cc.

@5thelement: I forgot that the 2x10 Man Tac Squads have Vet Sarg's with Power fist, but the small melta/razorback squads do not.

Any other thoughts or advice??

Put stormbolters on all your transports? At 5 points each it is a nice cheap upgrade.

@Davidson: I could do that...The other thought I had was to drop one of the 5 man razorback melta team for a jump pack Librarian. That way I could split the Assault squad into 2x5 man squads, brought up to 6 by the IC's, both of which are formitable in Close Combat.

Any other thoughts, comments, critisims??

The split assault squad sounds like a good idea, but I would worry over not enough tanks with the loss of a Razorback --- it always pays to force your opponent to choose between targets. Not sure of the solution to the problem, but just my thought.

@BrotherAdso: Yeah I am not sure what to do?? I honestly don't like the loss of a tank, but again I could have 2 Assault squads Rhino/Razorback hoping into the enemy force, one squad led by a Chaplain, the other led by a Librarian....I am just not sure what to do...I might try both configurations and see which one works out best....

Any other thoughts, or does it look like a solid list??
