1000 points of Nurgle by Jan. 2008 Hello all! I have recently decided to get myself back to into Warhammer Fantasy as I have been playing/painting/building a lot of my 40k orc speed freeks, so the other day I spent all of my saved up cash and ordered 1000 points of Nurgle (The best chaos god) Hordes of Chaos. I have been planning to do a Nurgle fantasy army for as long as I have been playing warhammer and I was finaly given the opurtunity. Here is the Final list I will be shooting for: Khorda Hellheart Exalted Champion w/ Mark of Nurgle, Bloodhunt Horn and Great Weapon. Gorgoth the Wanderer Level 2 Sorcerer of Chaos w/ Mark of Nurgle and Plague Chalice 20 Marauders w/ Light Armor, Hand Weapons and Shields. Full Command. 5 Chosen Knights w/ Mark of Nurgle and Full Command. Chaos Chariot 6 Chaos Hounds I will be building up in 100 point blocks of fully painted/built/based models each month. I have already built the first 100 points (3 Chaos Knights) along with 2 Chaos Warhounds and 5 Marauders. PICTURES ADDED IN A LATER POST \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ Please tell me what you think. C+C apreciated! Thanks for looking. >The Hound

THAT is how marauders should look, and how I'd make mine if I had the $$ to combine chaos warrior legs + heads with beastmen torsoso and arms. They really look great, nice nice work. The knights are rock solid too. Looking forward to paint and more of the force, best of luck!

Hello again! Update Time. After a lot of help from Squiggoth/ El Nurgling over on the Death Guard forums, i have changed around my final army list a bit To this: Exalted Champ w/ M.o.N. Armor of Damnation and Halberd. Mounted on Chariot of Nurgle 22 MArauders w/ Light Armor and Shields. Full command 5 Chosen knights w/ Full command and M.o.N. 5 Chaos Hounds 2 Nurgling Bases Dogs of War Cannon All of the Knights are complete: Although i think i am going to make some of the weapons/sheilds more nurgly and maybe give one guy a mutation of some sort... All the wolves are complete: Nurglings: Group Shot: And a cool WIP sheild i made that will probably go onto the knights Here is a pic of the cannon WIP: It still needs to be sanded down more, some more brownstuff work, a fuse box thingy and needs to be extended more. I am using an extended leadbelcher cannon for the cannon part, a empire cannon base thingy w/ empirey symbols filed off and chaos stars and arrows and nurgle symbols added and with some hellcannon wheels. I will use normal marauders for crewman with some minor conversion work and the cannon accesories and stuffs from the empire cannon. Thanks for looking! Comments and Criticism appreciated. >Chaoshound

Hmm ... since the cannon sounds like it'll turn out totally awesome, I'll avoid vomiting at the idea of Chaos needing to take a DoW cannon in 1000 points ... o_O
More to the point though, the new stuff looks grand, and that is a good choice for the cannon barrel. On the list, no GW on the exalted? I guess a halberd is good enough strength-wise, and then you get to use his intense initiative in later rounds.

Alrighty. Got some more work done. I am heading over to GW later today to pcik up some paints so i can get started painting em. I have also pulled back my due date to august, so i can maybe et these done in time for some summer campaign games. I added wooden sign posts to the standard bearer of each unit and to random bases in the warhounds and nurgling units to make the army look more coherant. They will sport simple one-word slogans suchh as 'Pox', 'Pus', 'Disease', 'Rot', 'Spread', etc etc etc Marauders Standard NEw Marauder Knight Standard Also, i dont understand all the fuss over including a cannon??? What is the problem? Thanks! >Chaoshound

Continuing to look great, CH, and glad to see you've moved your date up. On the marauders, are those the torsos off of gors or ungors? I'm thinking gors because of the weapons, but I always thought ungors would fit better for human types ... As to the cannon, the only think I care about is that it fits modeling-wise, and yours is shaping up to be awesome at that. The 'fuss' over the cannon is that it isn't in the Chaos book(s) for a reason - Chaos was never balanced (o_O) to include über ranged warmachine death, as it focuses instead on combat with magic as support with a total lack of missile troops. Taking one from DoW fills a lack that was purposefully built into the Chaos list(s) ... which may by why you took one, or maybe you're in it for the unique modeling too, or maybe some of both. I know if I took one, it would likely just misfire first time every game anyway But more power to you I say, and I still look forward to seeing it finished! - Boss Salvage

You inspired me to go out and spend a lot of money on a box of marauders & a box of warriors! I can't see the pics of the first unit you posted (dreaded red x's), so I can't tell how they look in the back.
I took a spare beastman, cut the torso, and attached it to warrior legs. There is a gap where the butt should go. I then used marauder torsos for the rest of the warrior legs, with the same gap. Do you just fill in and sculpt a butt (and belt) with green stuff?

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

THanks for the input guys! @BossSalvage: The torsos are off of gors, although the lower section is shaved down a little bit. I am not sure how ungor torsos would look. And about the cannon. If it makes anyone feel better.it uses he second weaker profile from the warhammer rule book, @Fellblade: I am glad i inspired you so much! I will be sure to reposts those pics so you can see them better, But about building the marauders: Yah i just fill in the gaps with putty, and then make a strap that continues the belt (Pic Further down). Normaly, there are some pretty noticeable gaps on the front that i also fill. I can make a tutorial with pictures later if you want of my exact method? Best of luck! MArauder another Marauder Standard Bearer Champion Musician Apicture of the back of one. Hope that helps a little bit! Thanks! >Chaoshound

After a long break, its time to put the petal to the metal. First off i created a new list, that i found after some playtesting works out a lot better 8) Exalted Champ w/ Mark of Nurgle and Halberd Mounted in: Chariot w/ Mark of Nurgle 20 MArauders w/Sheilds and Light Armor and Full Command 5 Chosen Chaos Knights w/ Mark of Nurgle and Full COmmand 5 Chaos Warhounds 5 Nurgling bases :p Ive got 11 points left over, where to put it? This list will also help me make way, financialy, for a realy awesome Champion Conversion i have in mind. First, I hace to stretch the nurglings out a bit in order yto make 5 bases. ILl probably end up buying another blister. here are some WIPs of that: For my Champion. I would like to use the new Gorbad torso, resculpt the fron and top in order to make it look like a giant suit of chaos armor. My one question is will the on foot archaon legs fit under Gorbad's torso? C+C apreciated on the list, nurgling bases and Champion Conversion Thanks. >Chaos Hound

Long time no update, I have finaly completed a unit of 10 Marauders: Here are the 4 new ones: And finaly some paint! PIP Knight: I picked up a rat ogre at a Bitz Sale at my local GW for 4$ So I turned him into a spawn: He also realy proved himself in a couple more games ? Ill be getting a lot of painting done tonight and tomorrow, so look for more updates. Thanks! >Chaoshound EDIT: Since these pcitures have been taken, i have touched up the spawn, added the nurgle symbol to the helmets of all the marauders, removed all the mold lines, and given them all stomachs and belly buttons no follower of nurgle gets a 6pack

Hello. Here you are Boss Salvage, some more recent pics of my marauders. This is the whole group of ten w/ all flash removed, based w/ sand, stomachs added and details and changed made to some of the models. Its sort of hard to see the stomachs as the putty i use sorta becomes the same color as the plastic after sanded Enjoy: I am currently writing this as I wait for the primer to dry on 2 knights and the 10 marauders so I should have more updates w/ paint tonight or tomorrow. Also, here is an example of the basing technique all the models will have on the base of a touched up spawn: Thanks for looking! >Chaoshound
