Hi.
I and a few friends built a huge terrain board (2.5x2.5 meters with massive mountain peaks and a fortress on top).

You can see it online here: GetTheGlass

As it is *way* to big to use as a gaming board we are now planning to cut it up.
Any suggestions on how to use the pieces??

Section it off and make your future terrain in the same dimentions. We use feet, but you could use Dm's, I guess.
I would section a 4X4 ft board into four 2X2 ones, or even smaller to 1X1 ft.
This gives you the options of using more then one type of terrain part with numerous options that can be fitted together.
If you want another way, try it with the terrain parts themselves, and use the board with outlaying features with.

- River boards.

- Mountain boards.

- Urban zone boards. ( roads and rubble)

- Hills, valleys, and fields.

It works out well, because it makes the storage a little better, and you can make the field the size that you need, depending on your area to play in.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Thanks for the tip - usually a good one - but did you follow the link?
The board is absolute huge - and not suited for gaming (even if sectioned) as it was built for an online game...

WOW!

I'm currently building a chapter keep.

If it turns out half as good as this I'll be well happy.

That last photo is screaming out for a conversion of the master of the Raven Wing in a santa suit flying just under the keep on the hill. lol

Amazing work none the less.

Yeah, having his (red?) imperial jetbike chasing a bunch of flying tyranids, led by a red beaked one.

I/we are leaning towards completely wrecking the board
Guess the best would be to reuse the best bits in smaller gaming boards.

Highlord with a Blackstone Fortress

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

1. Remove house bits place on card bases for gaming.
2. Remove trees for the same.
3. Cut up some hills, remodel the sides and make them for gaming.
4. Cut away the fortressd and part of the hill section it is on, remodel the severed side, preferebly with a winding path up. Place the fortress on eBay, it will sell.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

That thing is crazy crazy CRAZY! Totally awesome and you need to find a way to use it for 40k or even Fantasy (well, Mordhiem) or some other similar games. Kudos Kendoka! You always do have some kicking rad stuff to post.

I have no idea how you manage to churn out so many amazing things all the time.

Do you sleep at all ?

Scenery building is a bit like an old love to me. Whenever I see an amazing table like this I get the itch to grab some styrofoam and cut away.

>Do you sleep at all ?

While doing this board - actually no...
We were on a tight schedule and built the whole board in *one* week.
I worked 8 hours on my regular job, had dinner and some quality time with my family - and spent atleast another 8 hours with the board - every day (except for the weekend when I built a lot more.

I have a lot more projects done, pics might surface on ze Internet in a not so distant future...

Moloch: Your Hive Fleet Ouroboros display piece is really cool, have you done anything similar on a gaming table (I am planning something for my bugs).

I have only done a few one-off scenery pieces. But I have half a room worth of supplies and icky bits.

The whole nid themed table is firmly on my to do list. If everything goes to plan it`s scheduled for autumn. But I would also love to see how you would approach the subject. As far as I know this has never been tried in a decent quality. One idea I had would be to model a whole table around a crashed Bio ship, maybe with accessible inside a la X-Com/UFO Enemy Unkown.
