Here are the army lists for Dakka Detachment 1 that we took to the 2007 Adepticon team tournament and came in 3rd overall (2nd in Battle points).

The idea for the team was simple: Adepticon team games are essentially 2,000 points with most pairs equalling an army that is short either a Heavy Support or Elites choice.

A pure Godzilla list can max out on T6 wounds at around 1,500 points. Beyond that, opponents can keep cramming quality units into their army while the Tyranid player is stuck taking filler units (like Genestealers, Spinegaunts or Raveners). Also add into the fact that with the TT format most pairings would feature an army short of either an Elite or Heavy Support Carnifex (if not both) meant that the Godzilla army in the TT format would be at some serious disadvantages.

Plus, we figured that Godzilla lists would still be dime-a-dozen (which they pretty much were) and that everyone would likely not look forward to playing against them.

However, the one thing the TT rules did allow a Tyranid army to take was two Winged Tyrants. So after a quick brainstorming we came up with the idea to stick with the 'stealer shock' force (all scuttling stealers). This army format would really support the abilities of the Winged Tyrant and really allow us to go out and attack the enemy before they could respond.

Our one big fear was having to face a mech Tau or Eldar army and luckily we didn't get that pairing. Our overall record ended up as 6-1-1 and with all six of our wins gaining us maximum battle points as our quick strike force allowed us to kill every model in our opponent's armies.

We ended up facing 2 Necron teams, a Tyranid/LatD team and a Dark Angel/Blood Angel team. Perhaps at some point one of us will get around to posting a full tournament battle report, but until then, here are the lists we used:

Looks like you guys had some reasonable opponents. I wouldn't, but I could see some people dinging you on comp for the lists. Anyway, congradulations on kicking some ass.

*shrug* I guess the record speaks for itself - our dear moderator once again defends his position as guru of all things chitinous. Sounds like the preparation component was pretty much an excercise in army concept - on a related note, I want to see a picture of all four of those flyrants!

The only thing that puzzles me - probably due to the paucity of GW ressources in my possession besides a few Codices and rulebooks - is how the meiotic spores fit in. I count nine between the four lists - how do these things work? - my simple mind has the word "spore" associated with drop pods - what are they supposed to do for your lists, and how well did they succede at the tourney?

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Well, we got max selection points (24), so apparently none of our opponents had too many problems with our lists (and with all the 'zilla armies running around, I'm not surprised).  The big place we took a hit was in theme and painting.  Apparently, we missed out on some theme points because we were walking around looking at other people's lists when our theme was judged, so they missed our team shirts.

Their FW pieces that are basically super spore mines. Ordnance-size blast, S5, AP3, some other funky rules.

To be honest their greatest value in 6 of 8 games was simply that once we explained what they did, our opponents deployed in traditional "ordnance formation", with near-maximum dispersal. While this meant that the meiotics really didn't do a whole lot of damage (the total kills by my meiotics in games 1-3 could have been counted on one hand, and Janthkin and Blackmoor had similar results) the enemy's dispersal helped us greatly in hand to hand, as we could easily gain local superiority, and also it became extremely unlikely for us to wipe out an enemy in a single charge, so our genestealers were protected from enemy shooting in the opponent's turn.

Game 4 they did have an effect, but what else could you expect when you've got veiling and porting necrons moving around in nice, tightly-packed formations where we could get 10-12 under the ordnance template. Although that game was largely won by the fact that in both games, our opponents veiled one time too many and lost a lord+warriors to bad scatters.

Sometime soon, I'll get around to assembling my Adepticon AAR; it was a year worth preserving.

The genestealers did excellent work for me all Saturday. Rather high attrition rate, but such is life in the Brood.

Hey Cent99, you didn't miss that many points. We had matching T-shirts (Dok's Toolz) and I don't think it helped us one bit....

That was a probably. I might do a write-up, if I've got time. Gotta finish recoding a website first...been putting it off for the last three weeks and the client's probably getting antsy...
