Her feet kicked up splashes of clear water as she ran towards him. She was completely naked and the way her breasts jumped up and down made his loins ache with expectation. The girl had a extremely fit body and each running step made the ground shake. He felt the impacts up through his spine. Grooounch, grooounch, grooo...

Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.

Suddenly Private Stargazer was jerked up on his feet by a strong hand.
Pulled right out from his wet dream he was back on Ultima Prime, his newly awoken senses almost collapsing by the foul stench and the burning rashes.
The booming sounds from his dream were still here, now accompanied by bright flashes and hot metal whizzing through the smoke filled air. Their position were under heavy bombardment.

Lieutenant Ridge still held Stargazer in a firm grip, shaking him conscious while he screamed orders to the other, not so hard sleeping, members of his platoon.
-"All men to their posts! Man the battlements! Prepare for imminent attack!"

Stargazer pulled loose from his commander and started to run towards the trench fortifications. While running he slapped a fresh clip into his trusty lasgun and racked the slide for it to initiate. An intense whining noise confirmed the loading process and all around him he heard similar noises from the lasguns of the myriad of men who run beside him.
A grenade landed not fifty meters away exploding with a terrible roar and distributing mud and the remains of half a platoon like a crude rain over the running crowd.
"It's raining men." Stargazer reflected and started to climb the ladders.

When reaching the top of the battlements Stargazer, and hundreds of other Imperial Guard troopers, finally understood how this bombardment differed from the previous ones.
This was it. The big one. The all out attack they for the last weeks had been preparing for. Fearing. Yearning.

Over the field came thousands of crazied chaos heretics, wielding crude hand weapons and all sorts of guns. They were an unstoppable tide who swept over the razorwire fences almost without slowing down. Mines and booby trapped explosives created temporary holes in the incoming human tide, holes that got filled by new men within a few heartbeats.

Stargazer looked upon the fanatics as they came closer and closer. His worries were calmed when the first Imperial heavy bolters let loose and annihilated the first wave with a storm of explosive bolter rounds.
-"Suck on Imperial lead you chaos worshipping scum!" he shouted, only to see them carry on their attack as if not caring the slightest of the massive casualties inflicted by the roaring guns from the Imperial line.

As the attackers reached the fortified line Stargazer and his fellow Guard got their order: "Make every shot count! Fire at will!"

They all let loose and the battlefield was lit up by thousands of lasblasts. A full two thirds of the remaining heretics fell - but the rest stormed over the wall, guns blazing.
What seemed like hours of intense close combat then followed. Loyalists and heretics fought desperately during a constant bombardment by distant gun batteries from both sides.

Stargazer had emptied all his lasclips and was fighting like a furie with a bayonet on each hand, knee deep in a revolting gish of mud, blood and entrails. He was totally covered in blood and gore and so was everybody else - making it almost impossible to identify anybody in the thick smoke - so friend often fought friend in the total confusion that was. If you hesitated for a single click you could end up with a chainsword eating through your rib cage - and so Stargazer did what every other of the few remaining soldiers in that fight did, he killed without thinking. Anybody close enough bearing a possible threat got stabbed. Be it friend or foe.

After what seemed like an eternity of mindless bloodshed the bombardment stopped and the acrid smoke slowly drifted away. The heretics were beaten and the few surviving ones retreated back over the field towards their bases. Vulture gunships bearing the marks of Imperial 4th Air Cavalry hunted them down and made sure that no one made it.

Victory to the Imperial Guard!

Private Stargazer stood on top of a wrecked Chimera howling Imperial battle hymns with his bayonets in the air. He was still high on adrenalin, stimms and fear. Not until he collapsed of exhaustion and blood loss did the medics dare to approach him. His was given a strong sedative and while he was carried to the med-tent he returned to the wet dream that had started this day.
