Oi. This is my first go at putting a list together--Don't bother being gentle

Goreshade
Deathjack
Nightwretch
Skarlock Thrall
Bile Thrall x10
Bane Lord Tartarus
Bane Knight x8

It comes out to 498. So, talk to me.

Squeeze out some stuff to fit in some Satixis raiders, 14" run + Soul gate = dead caster.

If you are skimming points downgrade the Nightwrech to a Deathripper or get rid of it all together. Same for the Scarlock as he'll be less useful with Goreshade than with other casters. Maybe think about including a Pistol Wraith.

If this is your first Cryx/WM army I would suggest proxying as much as possible as thelist you have chosen (Goreshade/Deathjack) is a fairly non-standard setup. Nobody ever wasted their money buying the Cryx starter set and building up from there.

What do you mean by "non-standard"? Do 70% of Cryx lists use the same caster etc?

Not quite, the most common Cryx build at 500 points is Coven/Asphixious/Deneghra/Skarre(less so with Skarre) + 3 or more Bonejacks (Defiler, Nightwrech, Deathripper) and other assorted units.

Park and Arc: Such a list will park a bonejack next to an opposing caster and Arc- node spells into the opposing Warcaster until the oposing caster keels over stone dead. There can be variations and modifications to this theme but most of what you need to know is contained above.

This style of play is impossible with Goreshade. Goreshade rarely takes or needs bonejacks, in this respect he is similar to Terminus and Skarre.

Many Cryx players start with Deneghra (she comes in the starter box). She's a very versatile and forgiving caster. This list is not very forgiving. if you are new to warmachine losing deathjack could vey well lose you the game. I would not advise this list for a beginner, but it's your $$ at the end of the day.

Goreshade
Deathjack
Nightwretch
Skarlock Thrall
Bile Thrall x10
Bane Lord Tartarus
Bane Knight x8

It comes out to 498. So, talk to me.

Let's look at the components:

Smacks high ARM targets around?  You've got Bane Thralls, Bane Knights, Tartarus and Deathjack.  - Check!

Smacks low ARM hordes around?  You've got Bane Knights, Bile Thralls and Deatjack

Got snacks for Deathjack?  Oooh.  Bile Thralls.

Got speed for objectives?  Deathy AD's and the Nightwretch can run 14.  Bane Knights are reasonably fast at SPD6.

Other than the slight weakness in objective grabbing, it seems like a solid list.  Loosing the DJ early is not too much of an issue.  Just don't advance deploy him on his own, because that is a sure-fire way for him to die (or be disrupted and not have any snacks nearby).  The best use is to soulgate him into an enemy formation with some thrall support - otherwise, he'll probably die.

As long as the thralls aren't on the other side of the table, even disrupted, the DJ can snack on them. Activate the thralls first, run them forward. They will be in range to be sac'd when the DJ activates.

All problems can be solved with proper use of a high powered rifle and a water tower

Agreed.  It's certainly not the only way to go, but it's the most common base.

I still love Deneghra, and I've been using her almost exclusively since I started about a year ago.  That said, Goreshade is a strong choice for second best caster, particularly given that Mageblight allows him to handle Sorscha with relative ease.

I don't think I've ever seen a Goreshade list without a Soulgating Deathjack.  It's a solid combo, and I think the list given should work fine.  If it were me I'd probably drop the Skarlock and try to squeeze in one more bonejack, but that's just because I love all the things those little guys can do.

I don't think I've ever seen a Goreshade list without a Soulgating Deathjack.

One guy at our club regularly fields multiple Seethers for the Soulgate job. I took on one tonight with my Circle (list below). I have never done so since I bought Deathjack about 18 months ago.

Goreshade
Helldiver
Helldiver
10 Bane Knights
10 Bane Thralls
Bane Lord Tartarus
Scarlock
Necrotech
2 Scrap Thralls

Most unpleasant , I have minimal shooting in my Circle force (Waldwarden, Argus & 6 Tharn Bloodtrackers) so he was all over me like a rash. I almost killed Goreshade but not almost enough. I look forward to playing it with my Cryx, I think I shall fare better with Cryx.

drop the scarlock. Drop 2 bane knights. Whittle down the biles a bit. Take some mech thralls as additional soul gate material or a pistol wraith.

This list is good - I'm a long-term cryx player and I would play that list in a hearbeat (with my modiifcations)
