Hey All, This list is for a local 2000 pt 40k tourney in my area, where I have been running IG and would like to change it up a bit. I always liked the idea of multiple jump squads with scouts so please tell me what you think of this list. Advantages: Blessed Be the Warriors and Purity above All Disadvantages: Eye to Eye, We Stand Alone HQ M.O.S, JP, BP, MB's=126 Elite 8 Assault Marines w/FC, Apothecary w/ pw=250 8 Assault Marines w/FC, Apothecary w/pw=250 8 Veterans, PF, PW, Apothecary w/pf=199 Troops 5 Scouts-4 sniper rifles+ML=95 5 Scouts-4 sniper rifles+HB=90 6 Scouts-Vet Sgt, PF=106 Fast Attack 2 Landspeeder Tornados 8 Assault Marines w/ vet power fist 8 Assault Marines w/ vet power fist Heavy Support 8 Dev's 3 Las, 1 HB=240 Total=1976 so still 24 pts shy. Thanks in advance

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... At some point these sorts of decision-making skills lump you into the same camp as the Lehman Brothers, the White Star Line shipping company, and mothers who smoke during pregnancy. ---Sour Clams |

I'm not sure about the vets in this list; they need some way to get stuck in, otherwise, they're just a big, slow target. Do you have a plan for 'em?
I'd consider giving the MOS Termie honors for extra killy goodness.
What about flamers/plasma pistols for the Assault squads? Consider giving the FA AMs flamers and the FC AMs plasma pistols (you want them to charge, after all).
Finally: I'm curious to see how the apothecaries do; I always thought that'd be a neat idea.

Good idea's
The Vet's can infiltrate or if the mission does not allow stay back to castle with scouts and Dev's
Termie honors is an excellent idea as well

only question, your dev squad is set up weird, 3 lcs and 1 hb? most of the time you are hunting tanks, and hb will be wasted.

Do you have a ML already built you could sneak in there instead of the HB? That gives you an AT weapon that can also be used for horde hunting, if necessary.

You need to check your math on the vets, I get 239. I think you may have forgotten to pay for the squaddies power weapon and power fist.
Also, Apoths can't be used in assualt squads, only tacs and vets. Just because you're able to give an assualt squad a veteran skill, doesn't make it a veteran squad.

Thanks a bunch Mnemoch, much rather be embarrassed here than at a tourney with an illegal list. I do think my math is right however, but that is inconsequential. I would like some help then (as I am obviously incapable of doing myself) of putting together a solid competitive 2000 pt Jump pack SM army. I think this core is solid, what would you add? I was thinking two WW's and maybe the Tank Hunter Advantage? Advantages: Blessed Be the Warriors Disadvantages: Eye to Eye HQ M.O.S, JP, BP, MB's, TH's=141 Elite 8 Assault Marines w/FC, Apothecary w/ pw=250 8 Assault Marines w/FC, Apothecary w/pw=250 Troops 5 Scouts-4 sniper rifles+ML=95 5 Scouts-4 sniper rifles+HB=90 Fast Attack 2 Landspeeder Tornados=160 8 Assault Marines w/ vet power fist=206 8 Assault Marines w/ vet power fist=206 Heavy Support 8 Dev's 3 Las, ML=245 Total=1643 so 357 to play with...thanks again for all your help

I would add another HQ character with a jump pack. A librarian would fit nicely w/ iron halo. Also, I would spend the reasonable point cost to add plasma pistols ot your jump squads. 5 points per pistol is a steal and one of the best bang for your bucks in the game. Have you considered a deep striking terminator squad w/ 2 tank hunting assault cannons. It could do wonders for your lack of anti-tank. One more item, give both scout squads the ML, you really need the anti-tank.

Again, you can't take Apoths in an assualt squad, even one in your elites spot.
I don't know that a force with that many assualt squads will do well, but if you're going for that sort of thing then you should consider Blood Angels rules. You could then take 2 Veteran assualt squads and normal assualt squads for 2 points more you're paying now, and they'd ALL get furious charge. You could also get melta-guns in the Veteran Assualt squads. You could also get Death Company Chaplin for more jumppackers, and if you wanted another squad an Honor Guard for a second HQ.

In what is otherwise a guerilla-style raiding army, those devestators stand out like dogs balls. Is there some other way you could get anti tank in there? Melta bombs, Plasma Pistols, MM Speeders and Fists on your Elites could all help. It seems you had a strong theme up to that point and then it just falls over.

My vote goes to speeders w/ multi-meltas. But instead of dice hanging from the targeter, you use greenstuff and model a pair of "dogs balls" to hang there. Hey Bolter, you are one sick puppy!
