I see Russ went with a red skin color on most of his trolls.  The troll blue looks a little odd to me.  I know from some other games that trolls can be grey or a light green.

Maybe it is just me, but I was thinking of doing a horde of trolls in a grey or light grey with a blue hue.  I think one line of paints calls it dolphin grey which has a blue/grey finish.

Anyone got any thoughts on the subject???

it sounds cool, i say do up a test mini with the colour scheme. This way if you dont like it, its only one model.

A search for "troll" on PP's modeling forums yielded many results. Most of them were blue.

Here are some of the ones that were not.

Conclusion: You're right. A lot of blue out there. I hope your project goes well!

(My favorite is Majin's!)

I did mine in a cold grey. Bellies and arm undersides are lighter. Dolphin is a very accurate description, I think! For the quills, I highlighted with a blue grey up through white (except the axer- he got orange dyed quills for added ferocity!). Nails were done organically from browns highlighted through white with "ridges" simulated through streaks. Eyes are yellow. For contrast with the skin, I chose warm colors- red-brown and yellow brown leathers and red or gold armor, for example. They have all come out quite nice.

I really like Majin's paint scheme too actually. If I ever get a Winter Troll, he's gonna be that color scheme probably (after heavy heavy conversion of course).

I did mine Brown, just because I didn't like the Blue scheme.
