AdeptiCon Announces Dates for 2008!

AdeptiCon will return April 11 – 13, 2008 for its sixth year of Games Workshop miniature wargaming madness. Mark your calendars, put in for the time off work, and start making your travel plans, because 2008 is going to be our biggest and best AdeptiCon ever. We’ve been listening to our attendee’s feedback, and one of the most-requested changes to AdeptiCon will be happening in 2008!

After three years at the same venue we’ve outgrown the space available, so in 2008 we’ll be moving to the Crowne Plaza hotel in Rosemont, IL, just outside of Chicago. We’ll have 24,000 sq ft of ballroom space available, DOUBLING our combined 40K ballroom and Fantasy pavilion space from 2007. The extra space will not only allow us to move the fantasy events back into a ballroom area, but we will also be able to have space available for open gaming and other events.

For the convenience of those who need to make their travel plans in advance, here’s the link to the hotel reservation site: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/advancedsearch?whichtype=room&roomResult=none&hotelCode=chiok&quickRes=city&_GPC=ADT&_requestid=23794
Or you can call their reservation line at: 1 800 972 2494

Our AdeptiCon code (ADT) should automatically appear in the “Group Rate” field, giving you the AdeptiCon rate of $99/night.   Parking will be available for $10/day, and in addition, a free shuttle service to and from O’Hare Int’l Airport will be available for our out-of-town guests.

Please make sure that when you reserve your hotel room, you use the AdeptiCon code (ADT). AdeptiCon’s staff have worked to get the best possible rates for our attendees, and we need to make sure that our block of room is filled. If you find better rates for the same hotel elsewhere, please contact us. You can e-mail us at: awc_nfp@yahoo.com

Join the AdeptiCon 2008 Staff!
Become a part of the AdeptiCon 2008 team! With all the extra space we’re going to have in 2008, we’re looking for volunteers who are excited and passionate about the hobby to help us continue AdeptiCon’s tradition of excellence.

We are looking for volunteers in the following areas:
  • Operations Staff (Setup, Registration, Tech Support, Breakdown)
  • 40K Tournament/Event Staff
  • Fantasy Tournament/Event Staff
  • Specialist Games Tournament/Event Staff
  • Hobby Seminar Instructors
  • *Communications
  • *Terrain Building (Chicago-area residency required)
  • *Web Staff (Website maintenance experience required)
*These groups perform the majority of their work before AdeptiCon. All other groups do their work during the AdeptiCon weekend itself.

Note that with one exception (the Terrain Group), Chicago-area residency is NOT required, so no matter where you live you can help make AdeptiCon 2008 happen!

E-mail awc_nfp@yahoo.com today with your name, contact info, and areas in which you’d be particularly interested in volunteering. A member of the AdeptiCon Council will get in touch with you. Planning for AdeptiCon 2008 begins in earnest this summer, so join the team today!

Nice.

Just to plug for them a little more: It's actually a great event for
spectators. Many great armies to see and great people to meet.

Good to hear that Fantasy (and BFG?) players will no longer be exiled. I hope they don't scale the 40k tournaments too much bigger (they're already huge!), though a 400 player, 100 team tournament would be kinda sweet.

Minor hotel rate bump, prolly owing to an airport location. That's fine, as it spare us long-range travelers the need for a taxi or rental car.
