Historicon is the premier convention for historical gamers. There are over 400 games offered, and numerious tournaments. This includes the FOW tourney. All periods of history are represented from ancient to modern. There is also a small (no more than 10%) spattering of scifi fantasy.

There are also over 100 dealers selling everything you can possibly believe. Also a flea market to pick up some nice bargains. For non members it's $35 for the weekend pass, which is quite reasonable.

This is one con everyone should try.

I echo RB, not the greatest for Fantasy and just okay for 40K (although I have picked up some great bargains there). And some of the historical displays, especially ACW, are amazing. On the downside, not a whole lot of hygiene being practiced there.

I heart SYR 8766

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... Asmodai (my new hero)

At some point these sorts of decision-making skills lump you into the same camp as the Lehman Brothers, the White Star Line shipping company, and mothers who smoke during pregnancy.

It's a decent convention, but as mentioned above, it's historically focused, so few if any 40K play going on there. The flea market always has pretty good deals on stuff (better then eBay), though. If you're in the area, I'd spend the $20 and go. You might find another game or two you like, and you can easily save a bunch of cash on models if they have something for your army there.
