  I've been playing the following kabal list with pretty good success for the past while in tournaments and on a challenge board at the local game store.
I haven't lost with it yet.

 Archon w/ shadow field, trophy rack,  combat drugs, agonizer, splinter pistol,  plasma grenades

  On my first turn, I usually drop one portal and fleet the other warriors forward and drop their portal on my second turn.  I know I take a bit of a risk having small units of warriors, but the gamble always has paid off  as the store puts a decent amount of terrain on its tables.

how many points are those, the last one seems nasty

They both come in at around 2,000 points. With the first list, I've gone up against and beaten a few players that have placed in the top layer of GT's. In fact one of the people I've beaten a few times with this list has taken 2nd and  5th in the last couple of GT's he's been to, so I know my list does well against seasoned players.
I had originally started out trying for an all wych army, but didn't have the minis for it, so this is what I ended up with. With the right kind of luck, I'll have the minis for the second list all ready for an upcoming RTT.
