I played alot with this list, so far all wins, tell me what you think.Any weaknesses, let me know

Darius

Thunderhead

Centurion

Hammersmith

Grenadier

Lancer

Min unit Trenchers + Trencher grenade porter

Stormsmiths x 3

Trenchers are there to make the smoke screen, stormsmiths just behind em to zap infantry or jacks that get too close. Hammersmith is perfect with Jackhammer. Grenadier + Grenade porter for the AOE's (although Darius has alot of those already).

Hrm.

I'd suggest trading the Hammersmith for a Centurion. Sadly it's just a straight up better jack. The Hammersmith gets you a few more attacks, true, but IMO the Centurion's 21 armor is worth it.

I'd also lose the Grenadier in favor of the GMCA + Journeyman + Trencher UA (not sure if the points fit, but it should be close). The Trencher UA is phenomenal; and with the Grenade Porter, Steam Cannon, Halfjack Mines and the Thunderhead's purge the additional AOEs from the Grenadier shouldn't be missed.

The third thing I'd consider is maybe dropping one Stormsmith; but that depends on whether or not you are playing in tournaments with this. Stormsmiths are cool, but their major drawback is that they're really easy to kill and each gives up 1 VP. In League games or friendly games that don't go to VPs this doesn't much matter. But in tournaments you often end up going to VPs, and Stormsmiths are the closest thing to free VPs there are in the game IMO. Maybe trade one Stormsmith for Reinholdt?

Also trading the Hammersmith for an Ironclad isn't a bad idea. The quake hammer is awesome, and MAT6 is a big deal when it comes time to hit high DEF stuff. Yeah full throttle ameliorates that somewhat, but with Darius I've found there are just times where I'd rather that 3 focus go elsewhere - having a MAT6 warjack to still hit stuff is nice.

I can see where you guys are coming from.

But take into account this : Hammersmith + Jackhammer = 12 attacks with 3 focus.

And then the Stormsmiths . I use them to get those high defense things away so I can set up the casterkill with the Darius Crane -Charge combo. I dont care if those stormblades of my opponent are in melee with my jack, I just have to roll under an 8 and i hit em.

As for the grenadier, yeah, Ive never actually gotten him to kill anything, but he just looks cool, so I might go with your suggestions there

Today I won another battle, this time against Nemo, didnt loose a single thing and smacked his butt after wiping out all his units that were blocking my chargelane.

I played a 750 Darius list last year at Origins.

The JH'ed Hammersmith was generally overkill, even with only POW 16. I would go with the Ironclad. Whatever the HS will kill, the IC will probably kill as well, plus it has the open fist. The difference between MAT 6 and MAT 5 when trampling is significant, even with 3d6 from Full Throttle. Doesn't matter if your're trampling Winterguard, who can't really hurt you if you miss the Trample attack, but if you want to trample something like IFP, who can hurt you, it makes a decent difference (needs only a 7 vs. a 8 on 3d6).

The stormsmiths can hemorage VP's in a tourney game is their only weakness. You could replace them with Eiryss or the GMCA.

In the dark future, there are skulls for everyone. But only the bad guys get spikes. And rivets for all, apparently welding was lost in the Dark Age of Technology. -from C.Borer

Good point. I dont know the exact wording of Jackhammer and Trampling, but if trampling is considered a melee attack then I guess it would.

And indeed, I see the point about Jackhammer being overkill, I'll try out the old ironclad next time. I'm also gonna drop the grenade porter, cause I normally have no problems at all with zerg armies, as Darius has enough AOE's, and the Thunderhead massacres most medium def infantry.

Calle: Upkeeping Jackhammer and putting 3 focus on your Hammersmith is overkill. It also means you're not using Full Throttle, which means you're probably not hitting with all those attacks.

I love these Darius threads.

My 500 point list went like this:

Darius, Thunderhead, 2 X Centurion, JWC

Now I want to up it to 750.  I plan on adding two Hammersmiths and Eiryss

I don't like infantry, so I still want to go jacks and solos.  Hammersmiths are the best heavy jacks Cygnar has if you only give them full throttle.  With boosted hits, they have two P+S 16 weapons, and I find this superior to a Centurions 18 and 12 attacks.  After seeing how powerful a Thunderhead is with Jackhammer, I can only imagine a Hammersmith would be more productive.  The added bonus is when you take a HS over a Cent, your wins are more accepted.  The Cent is well undercosted, and everyone knows it.

Anyways, I've always played at 500, but this is the 750 list I will be taking to two separate tournaments over the next four weeks:

Darius, Thunderhead, 2 X Centurion, 2 X Hammersmith, JWC, Eiryss = 749 points

I'm anticipating that Full Throttle will be worth it, but I will let you know how I do, if anything, the list has victory point denial, as long as you repair jacks before they are totalled, you give up no victory points whatsoever.
