Looking at slowly starting up a dark eldar list, but I've seen them used so rarely, I need some advice on which way to go.  I've used Tau and IG mostly in the past, so I'm biased towards shooty armies.  I had envisioned lots of skimmers zipping around blasting stuff, but with skimmers no longer blocking LOS, that seems much less feasible.

Starting at 500 points, I'm thinking something like:

Dracon on bike with power weapon, tormentor helm and hellmask  95 points

Squad of 10 dark eldar with 2 dark lances   100 points
Squad of 10 dark eldar with 2 dark lances   100 points
Squad of 10 dark eldar with 2 dark lances   100 points

Ravager with 3 dark lances                             105 points

The HQ seems kind of pricey, but I envision the turbo-boost could let him get into a nice protected position where he can threaten IG gunlines and such. 


At 1000 points-

Dracon on bike with agonizer, combat drugs, hellmask, shadowfield, tormentor helm 150

Haemonculi on skyboard with destructor and scissor hands   60
Haemonculi on skyboard with destructor and scissor hands   60

squad of 11 dark eldar with 2 dark lances 108
squad of 11 dark eldar with 2 dark lances 108
squad of 6 dark eldar, 1 sybarite with pistol/agonizer in raider with dark lance  152

It's tough to search for sample lists and such...DE seem to be pretty rare, and words like "dark" and "eldar" are fairly common when searching!  If any of you DE fans could post a link for me to a DE tactics thread, I'd appreciate it!

Excellent links. I'm usually pretty hesitant to look at sites other than Dakka for army lists/tactics advice, but those look pretty good.

Ok...

In the first list, you really don't need 3 units of Dark Eldar. Drop one and take some reavers to go along with your Dracon. For 100 points you can get 3 and give your Dracon a Shadowfield.

In the second list, if you are taking Dark Lances on your Raider squads, why do they have agonizers. Either you will stand and shoot w/ the DL's or assault. In either case, one of the two will not be used.

My advice is to drop the haemonculi, drop the two Raider squads and trade them in for two units of wyches in raiders and some reavers to go along with your Dracon. Also, I personally prefer disintigrators on my Ravagers as I usually have enough DL's.

You'll still have quite a bit of shooting for 1000 points and still have 3 really good cc squads.
