Don't worry; I'm making my own Drop Pods, so I won't go broke with this one.

HQ

  • Chaplain with PP, TermH, ArtArm, 9-man Command Squad with Company Champ, Serg, with PF, 2 Meltas, Trust Your Battle Brothers, Drop Pod

ELITES

  • Dread w/ Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod
  • Dread w/ Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod

TROOPS

  • 10 Marines, Serg. w/ PF, Meltagun, Flamer, Trust Your Battle Brothers, Drop Pod
  • 10 Marines, Serg. w/ PF, Meltagun, Flamer, Trust Your Battle Brothers, Drop Pod
  • 10 Marines, Serg. w/ PF, Meltagun, Flamer, Trust Your Battle Brothers, Drop Pod
  • 10 Marines, Serg. w/ PF, Meltagun, Flamer, Trust Your Battle Brothers, Drop Pod

That's the 1750 List. I can have 2 specials in a squad because I took the trait "Cleanse and Purify," allowing me to replace a Las with a Plasma gun or Meltagun or a ML with a Flamer. For 2000, I add:

ELITES

  • 5 Terminators, 2 Heavy Flamers, Drop Pod

Don't underestimate Heavy Flamers in a drop squad!

Thoughts? Criticism? I don't care, be as critical as you want.

Catch me if you can.

Drop Pods need to be able to operate on their own to counterballance their rather random arrival. You seem to allready have discovered this when you try to give each squad anti tank and anti troop weapons.

To improve efficiency I d suggest 2 Meltas per unit though. The reason is that a Flamer doesnt give you as much benefit with all thouse (anti troop) Bolters you get anyways.

Next thing is squad size. Without countercharge 10 man will not help much when assaulted. And you get pretty vulnerable to pie plates. To improve efficiency I d suggest units of 6 or 8 models.

Keep in mind: Drop pods survive counterassaults by maximized and focused shooting on the drop.

To save points Id let the termis be the HQ and (you knew it) would give them ACs and tank hunter.

The Trust Your Battle Brothers trait gives the squads True Grit and Counterassault (countercharge, whatever it's called).  With having to survive counter-fire and then survive immediate assaults, it's 10-man or nothing in drop pod squads, imo.

I dont think so. Trust costs alot and overall weakens the army, because you lose models and guns with it. The key is to drop on one flank and decimate it with shooting so hard that they cant assault you properly. Use terrain etc..

By using pods a lot I can tell from experience that 10 models often struggle to disembark properly, especially when you try to use the Pod as cover.

The choice is not so much one Pod with 6 or one with 10 Marines. Its more like 3 small ones with 6 special weapons or 2 big ones with 4 special weapons.

Trust Your Battle Brothers is 3 points a model. I'd rather have 5 marines with it than 6 marines without it (which are equivalently priced) in a drop pod army.
