Some nice touches Here and there but I'm not exactly sure what is going to make this army stand out as 'pre-heresey' besides the old Rhino kit.

IMO Pre-Heresy army would be much more regimented, like Cadians. This was back when the army was one solid core rather than a diverse force utilizing the customs of the home-worlds they were raised from (I'm sure the planet's they tithed from as they made the great crusade provided forces, but I imagine they made more of an effort back then to bring the regiments into the 'official army' by giving them standardized uniforms, etc).

But anyway, looks like a fun start and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you come up with (plus some finished bases).

im going to have to disagrey with you yakface, althow i'm not shure if the Vostroyan are ph, there is a similar looking army in the ph art book visions of darkness called boris's trakers from a planit called Urslavik (im infering this from the disaplin master's sycle). you are right that the impereal goverment did try to unifie traneing and uniforms, difrent envierments requiered difrent uniforms. pluse the impereums huge you cant posubly think they suceded? (see pp18 of visions of darkness)

@ eisenhorn: if you are trying to do the Urslavik troops they have chaos stars on there black hats and have brown, black, or gray grate coats, (and i wont get after you for the guns as it would be vary hard to make them) if the Vostroyan are ph and thats what you where doing then ignore the above

The Vostroyan Firstborn (as detailed in the background) are also almost identical in equipment and organization today as they were 10,000 years ago. In their background they are still the 'First' regiment from way back then, reinforced constantly by the firstborn sons of Vostroy. Instead of founding new regiments they resupply the original constantly.

I also agree that they match the pictures in the HH artbooks of Imperial Army regulars quite well.

Good job!
