I have a dilemna, it looks like the Blood Angels took a beating with the nerf stick. I'm trying to help a friend make an effective list and all I can think of is a 4 letter word that the dog leaves for me that I have to scoop up every morning.
Our last game he got frustrated and quit part way through, and I've gone through the new codex and I think got frustrated too.

Here's a list he ran

Chaplain with powerfist and jumppack

10 Death Company with jumppacks

10 Assault Squad with Powerfist and flamers?

7 Vet Assault Squad with Melta gun and Powerfist

10 tac squad missle launcher, metla gun, powerfist

10 tac squad lascannon, plasma gun, powersword

Baal Predator w/ heavy bolter sponons and assault cannon

I was going to rewrite the list to be

Chaplain with powerfist and jumppack

10 Death Company with jumppacks

5 Assault Squad with Powerfist

Baal Predator w/ heavy bolter sponons and assault cannon

10 Devastators with 4 missle launchers

Its got more shooting and more combat but 5 less models and I'm about 50pts over my 1500pt limit.

Whats a good list these days? how far is my above list from being good. My eldar is far from concerned about anything in the codex. I'm almost ready to suggest play codex Vanilla Red Marines with lots of assault squads

Codex Red Vanilla Marines would be most effective but Blood Angels have a few good units. Vet Assault Squads are better than regular assault squads in just about every way. Lemartes is another good buy. I saw a list that had Lemartes, 2-3 Baals and the rest was just jump packers. It looked pretty good.

I did a little search-fu for blood angels and turned up very little. But I could drop the 10 man dev squad in favor of an autocannon, lascannon sponsoned predator, giving 3 predator bodies. This also free's up about 100pts, enough to buy a 10th death company trooper and pay for all the jumppacks.

Is there a more competative list? I really haven't even considered the special characters, its always been my experience that if you can build your own its more powerful.

EDIT: my overall goal is a list that is competative against my eldar or can win tournaments if its possible now.

Lemartes is 5 points more than a jump pack chaplain and you get a wound and a few random goodies, so a good deal if you are already planning on taking a jump pack chaplain, to bad he's such an ugly model.
